I recently was gifted a F-2B (circa late 60's), and the first thing I did was replace the older tubes in the unit with my last set of newer (but still old) RCA 12AX7 (not 12AX7a) Tubes. I am looking for more. Now I know, tubes are tubes...well they are, but it seems that those RCA's just sound warmer than their currently built counterparts. I have seen some on ebay, and other places, but prices can be a little steep. If anyone has some RCA 12AX7's stockpiled somewhere I would be happy to take a few of your hands! |
