I recently inherited my late Brother's bass & guitar collection. He was very proud of his Alembic, as he was with all of his instruments. I just can't seem to find out which model this one is. I've tried to contact Alembic, but have yet to receive an email, or phone response from them. Attached is a pic. Any ideas? Thanks! (Message edited by davehouck on February 15, 2009) |

Welcome to the club! Sorry to hear about your loss, my condolences. That's a stunning Elan, looks like a Flamed Koa top. The first two digits of the serial number will reveal in which year this bass was build ;-) You can ask for a serial number check here ;-) |

Hee hee; it's easy to get Flip and I confused, we both have long hair and play Alembic basses! The body core is most likely Maple, as is the neck. The fretboard is Ebony. The controls are Volume, Pan, Low-pass filter, and Q switch. It's an absolutely wonderful bass! When you plug it in, you'll probably notice, compared to other basses, the increased clarity and evenness of tone throughout the frequency range. As for contacting Alembic; they absolutely love to help in any way they can, but they are a very small shop and the amount of email, phone messages, and board postings they get can be a bit overwhelming despite their best intentions. |
