Hey, first timer here.

Been looking at these absolutely wonderful guitars made by Alembic. Slobbering over the gorgeous tops, so offer up any any used Alembic guitars (no basses.)

Thanks.

If you wanted a quicker response email me at gkweston@gmail.com

PS: I have a Warmoth WGD, by the way (heheheh I loove it.)

Hi, I'd be up for selling this Orion Baritone guitar. I bought it in the autumn last year but have not really got that familiar with it.

Not sure whether it's what you are looking for.

After futhur (gettit?) investigation it looks like I'll be huntin' for an Orion.

Preferably standard, but a baritone is tempting.

Thanks you for the input. Yes I just saw that but as bsee said "sort of pricey for a used Orion. That's double what they have typically sold for over the past year or two." So I'll have to pass. Thanks though, I appreciate the help.

Alembic Club is very friendly as I see. Very cool.

I'm diggin' that walnut.

But my wallet's not. :/

Thanks though, that's a beautiful guitar.

So I'll give you a little background on this Alembic search of mine. A good buddy of mine has an Alembic Epic ('94 or something) he bought it from Bass Northwest, I believe. Some of you may know the place. Anyway, I started jammin' with him a lot recently and decided to play bass on a few tunes and realized "Wow! This is groovy!" So I find if their guitars play, feel or sound half as well as that bass did then I gotta get one.

Hence my Orionic search.

Phew.

Where are you located Garrett? Have you checked to see if there is an Alembic dealer nearby? If not, I'll bet that you live within a few hours of someone on the forum. It's not unheard of to have guys meet up at a gig so that they can have a look at each others gear. If you were anywhere close to me I'd set up a time for you to come play my bass.

Edgewood, about fifteen, twenty minutes from Tacoma. I'm just interested in wranglin' my own guitar, ya know? But I'm not really giggin' just gulpin' down those nice easy fun friendly jams like a kid eatin' chocolate.

Essentially I'm trying to have fun because I don't need to support myself but will in a couple years and if I decide to try and make a career in music then I know it will put a strain on how I enjoy the tunes themselves.

Hopin we have another NW Alembic get together this year...hopefully you'll have a 6 stringer to share and jam with by then.

Ah yes! Thank you sir!
Deffinately would show up for an Alembic get together. Y'all seem like a nice bunch, I bet that reflects into the playing as well.
EDIT: Oh and, here's hoping!

Getting antsy!

Judging from a search I just performed I suppose Orions don't go on sale often here. It seems there were only two or three sold on the site in the last few years.

I've changed my mind about the baritone option, in fear the frets get too crowded if I'm playing high up on it (high D and up).

Any other recommendation on how I can acquire an Alembic? Preferable under $2000.

Watch Ebay regularly; Orions do show up there from time to time. Also watch for older Electrums too, they show up from time to time as well. Another good thing to do is to watch craigslist. If you're patient, you should be able to get something off ebay for less than $2k. In the mean time, continue hanging out here learning all you can about the different models and the different options and configurations.

Funny you mention Electrums, I just received an e-mail about one.

Sounds like a plan though, knowledge is power and patience is a virtue.

Thanks,
Garrett

Garett, I think you have it backwards. On a baritone, the longer scale length means the high frets are further apart than on a guitar. (Compare a mandolin to a guitar.) But maybe you meant that the bari strings are thicker so side to side could get tricky. :-)

Good luck in the search, regardless!

Very, very, very few Alembic 6 string guitars have I ever seen go off eBay or anywhere else for less than 2K.

Effclef, I understand the difference in fret size in accordance to guitar scales (I play a Jaguar as backup hahaha) but all I was saying was 12th fret would be a B so in order to play a high E I would be plaing on the 17th fret. So the range of notes may be a little off. I 'ought to try one out first eh?

And basstra, I guess I'll just have to hang with y'all and wait it out ;)

Oh you're right, Garrett...I forgot about the thing not being standard EBGDAE tuning. Though I've heard you can tune them that high...

I think (may not be right) that in order to tune them that high and not put too much stress on the truss rod you would have to string it with something like .09s. I'm an avid heavy-stringer (.11 and even .13s sometimes) so I wouldn't like to have one of my main guitars strung so lightly.

But maybe not, maybe the truss rod is strong enough to tune five semi-tones sharp and consistently keep it the tense without malfunction.

theres a skylark in the for sale section. I dont know what is being asked for it. But its got a nice finish, and LEDs! It was actually the same skylark I was going to buy, before I bought my series I instead. Im glad I went with the series I, the electronics are much better... I would have liked though LED's though!

Hi Garrett, not sure if you have found one yet but this has appeared on ebay.
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=200344839344&ssPageName=ADME:B:SS:GB:1123

Not an alembic but a strat driven by alembic pickups.
I have a strat with three alembic pickups and the sound is amazing. Worth a look anyway.
All the best

Jazzyvee

Ps: Just noticed this also for a pickguard loaded with alembic activators.
