That one is horrible. A poorly made parts neck that somebody put the Alembic name on. |

Yes, that is definitely the "Alembic Elan" neck that you would find on one of those low quality P-bass copies that somehow managed to get onto the market under a false name. IIRC, if one of those basses is offered for sale, Mica usually contacts seller and asks to remove the "Alembic Elan" name. Perhaps one of those sellers decided to remove the name, and remove the neck along along with it. |

I sent the seller the following: "Your item is a fake. Alembic has never made bolt-on necks, nor necks that even remotely resemble yours. Yours is from a cheap bass with a fake Alembic decal on it. (Alembic doesn't do decals either). You can see what an Alembic looks like, and why your neck is an obvious fake, at alembic.com." Bill, tgo |

Todd - to return to your remark about Modulus: you can find some first-hand info on this Blackknife thread here on the Alembic Club. |

...and to complete this round of Trivial Pursuit, Alembic Edition, some early Spoilers DID have decals on the headstocks. It's funny, some of us probably can't remember our spouse's eye color but we remember that Mr. Wickersham will never allow a customer to have variable-Q filters on a non-Series II instrument, which Club member has all his customs in black, which member is the short scale history expert, etc. Oh, I also reported the auction to eBay. The seller may be honest in what he thinks he has, but it's still a counterfeit. EffClef |

You're nicer than me, Bill - I sent the seller: "Do you really expect anyone to believe that's an Alembic neck? Anyone who would search this probably already knows that Alembic has never made bolt-on necks, and that their logo looks NOTHING like that." Peter ps - her eyes are blue-grey (I think) |

Don't forget completing the completion of Trivial Pursuit by including the Alembic brand bass made by Rokkomann in Japan with a bolt-on neck. I emailed the seller last night. It's really best to be as polite as possible when helping people understand what they are selling. Most of the people selling these fakes are victims themselves. Most will cooperate with my request of removing the Alembic name and selling as a "no-name" item. I couldn't find the relisting... can you post a URL? Thanks! |

So, does he think by taking "Alembic" out of the title it still gives him the right to sell a counterfeit item? I guess he is determined to sell this thing. Hopefully, Ebay will remove it. |

Thanks - I emailed him again. It's best to not harass such folks, it won't help them do the right thing. Hopefully he will accept my invitation to remove the trademarks and sell as a no-name item. I will report through ebay's VERO program (for trademark holders) tomorrow night if it's still listed. Thanks for helping me find these things. |

The ironic twist to the new listing is I can see someone who knows a little about Alembic, but not much (just enough to get in trouble), reading it, looking at the pics and thinking "wow, this seller doesn't know what he has ... AN ALEMBIC NECK!!!!" Then it's off to the races. Bill, tgo |

Reported to ebay today through the VERO program. I hope it's removed soon. I wish the seller had just done what I asked. At this point, the seller is aware that they are offering a counterfeit item, and is apparently OK with that. Some folks! |
