If you want to see what two filters and Q's are all about, this has to be one of the least expensive ways to find out. But fair warning - once you've got them, you won't want to go back!

Here are the basics:

Rogue 96Q12212
top: Wengé
accent: Maple laminate
body: Mahogany
neck: Maple, 35" extra long scale
fingerboard: Ebony with pearloid ovals
pickups: MXY56
original electronics: Europa (later changed to signature)
finish: satin natural polyurethane
originally made for: Larry Morgan Music
birthday: October 16, 1999

~ The electronics were upgraded to Signature at the factory (separate neck and bridge filters and Q switches). It still has the bass & treble quick change switches, so it's a very flexible Signature+ setup.
~ Zero issues with the playability of this bass - electronic package is in great shape, both truss rods are in perfect working order, the neck has no issues, and all the tuners and bridge parts are in excellent working condition.
~ Original G&G hard shell case has a few minor scuffs on the tolex, but is 100% functional.
~ There are some finish flaws on the wenge top and back (see pictures below). If you look at the first few pictures, you can barely see them. I took some high contrast closeups and circled them so you can get a better look.

While it may not be a mint condition Alembic, I love playing this bass. It was my first Alembic and it got me hooked on them. Never thought I'd sell this bass and may certainly regret it one day, but have to fund the next Alembic somehow...

I'm the 4th owner of this bass. I bought it from fellow club member Toby (tbrannon), who got it from Charles (crgaston), who got it from the original owner.

This bass can be yours for $2800 shipped to anywhere in continental US. Email me if you are interested and please put "Alembic Rogue 5" in the title. Also, please make a note here if you've sent me an email, just in case my over zealous spam filter gets you!

I'll echo what Loch has said about this bass- it is killer. The electronics package on this bass is so flexible.

That's a smokin' deal on an awesome bass. The controls are close to my Rogue w/ Signature electronics + master bass and treble controls. It's just stupid-flexible.

In a different economy I'd be buying this so mine had a playmate.

If anyone is at all interested in this bass, let me know soon, as I would prefer to sell it to a club member.

Otherwise it's going to have to go on evilBay...

Somebody needs to buy this bass.... I'd love to buy it back, but just don't have the funds to do so.

This is a GREAT bass.

This will be going up on eBay in the next few days.

Start price will be $2500 with a Buy It Now price of $2800.

You can buy it now for the opening price of $2500! Once the auction starts, you'll be bidding against everyone else.

Thanks,
Loch

Hey Tom,
I understand your sentiments!
That certainly is a beautiful bass. I just really a 5 string series though. Maybe next summer I'll be able to afford one.

Charlie,

So do what I did - Buy this guy now. Play it until the right Series bass comes along. Then sell it to help pay for the Series!

The more Alembics you play / own, the easier it will be to hone in on EXACTLY what you want in your "perfect bass".

Thanks,
Loch

Chalie-

I have to echo Loch's sentiments, if you're looking for a 5 string, this is a great bass (I'm the guy who sold it to Loch). I can pretty much guarantee that if you were to buy this at the price Loch's asking that you'll be able to turn around and sell it without a loss when the 5 string series bass you're holding out for comes on the market. It's a win/win situation really- you get a 5 string to play until the Series you're looking for comes available, then you can recoup your funds if/when you want to move this one.

I

My only problem is trying to switch from my Distillate series to the Rogue on stage (I use the 5pin cord and the power unit). My rig is set up for the Series. See: Chalie's Distillate. But I love that Rogue! I'd have to have another rig to play it (dang it!).

Charles,
I'm actually going to be in a similar situation once my Series 1 arrives. I am planning on tuning my Brown Bass down to Eb for those tunes that just won't work on a standard tuned 4 string. My intention is to just use an A/B switch between the DS5 output and the Brown Bass output.

Ok Keith,
I'm pretty dumb. What is an A/B switch? Who makes it?

An A/B switch is a switch with two inputs and one output. One input is called A and the other input is called B. They are fairly common. Here is a link to one. To find more just search your favorite online music shop for "A/B switch" and you will see plenty.

Thank you Kevin!
I'm wondering how I would hook it up to my rig.
I use two F1X's two QSC 2450's (picking up my QSC tonight @ 7:00Pm!!) and The DS5. This is very interesting now.

Robert,

It's the "comfort taper", so according to the Alembic specs it would be:

1.875" - Nut width
2.930" - 24th fret width

Thanks,
Loch

Man, that thing is becoming quite the international traveller! It went to New Zealand when I sold it, and now the UK!

Enjoy it, Barrie!

Yep it's here - hooray :-)

Unfortunately I have some really nasty nerve damage in my neck that's making my left hand numb (virtually no feeling in my left thumb!) and associated muscle damage in my upper arm which is slowly moving down into my forearm as well :-(

I'm officially banned from playing bass and using a keyboard which is a bit of a nightmare!

Bass playing is less problematical but I can't feel properly so it's a bit difficult to play.

It'll be at least a week I think before I can play properly again. . .

Bass is lovely - no idea how to work all the electronics though, lol
