By the way, if I wind up with these, I'll be bringing the bass up to the mothership for a logo-ectomy. Bill, tgo |

I asked the guy with the auction to send me pics of the inside of the instruments. The guitar is fitted with actual Alembic series 1 electronics!!! Alembic pots, wiring, the works. Michael |

Based on his concurrent craigslist posting, he wants almost $3000 for the pair. I wonder if he'd have better luck selling them separately... |

I contacted the seller and he agreed to sell me the FAG-170. Should be coming next week. Will require some work ... brass nut has not been set, loose wire that apparently does not effect performance per seller, middle hum canceling pickup was filed down and requires replacement (I have email into Mica for a replacement), plus I will either buy the PS-5 and cable or do the stereo to mono mod on the output. Its all Alembic electronics. Seller's Uncle fabricated the back plate, tailpiece and nut ... nice job, at least from the pics. I was happy to buy this since I lost out on an original Alembic SSG in the 70's for only $2000. I would have bought the Alembic Series I but after the Stanley Clark I just could not swing $16,000. Plus being out of work for 7 years in this land of opportunity has not helped. Thanks for a great post! (Message edited by davehouck on September 04, 2009) |

Thanks much Dave for the nice invite! Hopefully I can get some help with these parts I need. I'd like to buy the Alembic middle hum cancelling pickup as on the Series I and SSG since this one was "wasted": I would also like to purchase the Alembic adjustable brass nut for Series I. Will make the job of restoration easier than using this homemade nut that this guitar came with:
