I'm new to the site and new to Alembics in general. I've never played one myself but have heard plenty about them on this site. I'm an aspiring musician and I'm also aspiring to upgrade out of my current bass (my first bass actually) pretty soon. I don't have a real Alembic budget (series 1 or anything near there) but I've been checking Ebay and a couple of the posts in this section and something along the lines of a used Essence or maybe a used Epic would be around my budget. Only thing is I have never seen an Alembic around my town so I've never tried one out to see if I would really like it. So if there is anyone in or around Virginia Beach, VA that has one I could check out to see what it's like, that'd be really nice.

Thanks,
Andrew

Hi Andrew, I'm not real familiar with Virginia geography but there's a dealer in Falls Church. There is also one in Burlington NC but I'm not sure how close to Virginia Beach either is.
I can tell you an Epic will not disappoint. The only time that I played an Alembic was in the early eighties. I had the chance to try out a Series 1 in the store. I wasn't able to get it but never forgot about the experience. Recently I was shopping for a Warwick Thumb but never really found one that rang my bell. Then I saw a '94 Epic on ebay and knew that was my bass. I couldn't be more pleased.
I'm not usually this long winded, sorry. The gist of this is "Go for it!"

bracheen, do you know the names of the two dealers you mentioned? That'd be helpful. Thanks.

They're listed on the Alembic site. Look under locate a dealer. I think there was only one each for Virginia and NC.
Good luck

Sam
