I know it is not an Alembic, but I think it is worth some attention! Spellbinder Stanley Clarke #35 Greg |

Only $4500 this time - starting bid that is! So what is this bass realistically worth? Thanks Ron. |

Stanley Clarke is one of my great bass heroes, but that thing is just butt-ugly |

The design isn't even all that original. Here's a Daion Savage circa 1978-82. Look familiar? Bill, tgo

The three original Spellbinders that I've played were absolutely awful instruments... John |

It's been years ago, like '84-'85. Guitar Center (or Bass Center maybe?) on Ventura Blvd. had several of them pass through, and of course I made it my mission to play everything in that place. They felt and sounded like cardboard. Thin, light body mated to a tiny neck. Not enough mass or stiffness though.. Think of it as the opposite of an Alembic. John edited to add: If I didn't have to rely on it as my primary instrument, I'd still love to have one just for cool factor.. (Message edited by 811952 on October 02, 2009) |
