This 1991 Mark King Delux is up for trade. I am looking for a Stanley model with light wood (flame, birds eye, quilted maple etc). Although prefered, the electronics do not have to be Signature Electronics.

Specs on the MK are; Coco-bolo front and back, 5-piece neck, Gold colored tuning pegs, brass logo, brass hardward, signature electronics but NOT stereo (Volume, Pan, 2-tone, 2-Q switeches) SN: 91MK6693. I do not have the wood card for this bass. When I bought it new at Chuck Levin's they said that they lost it.

Here are a few pix. This bass has no nicks, dings, scratches or checking. It is in near perfect condition. If I can find a flaw, I'll do my best to photograph it and post it.

I am not interested in selling this bass, only trading it for a Stanley.

Thanks for looking,
STONEY

Key Keith,
I've just been hanging out reading the page. Don't have a whole lot to say. I'm busy musically playing bass for four bands and keys for one. Needless to say, Montgomery County Maryland isn't excatly the music capital of the world so if you want to play, you've gotta play with a number of folks.
Thanks for asking!!
Best regards to all,

Well talking from the music capital of the world Raleigh, North Carolina one should be so lucky as to be able to find four bands to play in and have any that actually gig. LOL
Are you still with the Who tribute band?

The Quads have somewhat disbanded as our guitarist is living in your neck of the woods. I still knock around with Who's Next when they need me either on bass or on keys depending upon how big the show is.

Hey Dennis, a quick way to tell if a non-series instrument has LEDs is to look at the back of it. If there is not a rectangular compartment on the other side from the control cavity, then it is pretty much a given it does not have LEDs. The compartment holds four 9 volt batteries, just for the LEDs.

If you do not see a picture of its back, is there an extra toggle switch in the controls? Since they are battery driven, they must have an on/off switch. If 20th Anniversary electronics are listed, that extra switch is a mono/stereo switch.

Thank you!

Your help is appreciated. I'm still trying to get my hands around all this. If you recall, I have the 81 series I eight string bass and I'm just getting used to it. I know my bass has the hum canceler but the Mark King basses don't. Will I notice the difference?

Also, anxious to get a more usable Alembic (eight strings is a bit much for playing a 4 hour gig). I'm ready to blow some cash and have been watching ebay, but find better quality/conditioned instruments on this site. Again thanks for your input and please offer up any other suggestions that seem appropriate for a rookie Alembic fan.

Will you notice the difference between your series bass' electronics and those of a signature? Oh yes. You WILL notice the difference. However, people are unique in thier own ways, so will you like the sound better/not as much would be a valid question. Live in a big city? Go to a big store and play a signature bass. I like both, however, I prefer series electronics if I had to choose one over the other. Some one else will surely have a different taste in what they like.

Want a great bass at a great price - patience. Want one now, pay the price. I waited three years till my first Series II popped up on eBay and I scooped it up. Till then, I played a 20th Anniversary with signature electronics, and liked it very much. Time is money, after all. Have you got the time or have you got the money is a major deciding 'balance' in many decisions made in our lives.

BTW - What I say here has nothing to do with Stoney's bass. It is just general advice for a new member. Back to the focus of the tread, great bass Stoney!

Hi All,
Tom, thanks for helping out. I haven't been on the site for a while. No LED's on the bass, it's still for sale and still in pristine condition. I'm asking $3,800.00 ...includes freight and a set of Maxima Gold strings. Will ship only to continental US.

I checked your profile (hope you don't mind) and you are a little less than 150 miles away, sweet! If you wouldn't mind maybe driving to meet me possibly an hour drive from where you are? It would cut down on my drive time from 2 1/2 hrs to 1 1/2 hrs. I just have to free up some cash. I have a Triple Omega and have fallen head over heals for Alembics. I wanna see what a 32" scale is like. It may take a week or two to come up w the bread so please be patient. Buying my daughter another used car she totaled her last one kids !!!! So I have to tip toe thru this bass sale hehehehehehehehehehehehehehe LMAO. I can hide it for a little while but eventually the wife will see it. I will tell her it is a 32" scale she'll look at me like I am crazy and just shake her head :-) Let me know what ya think and we'll go from there. My email is a gr8 way to get a hold of me. It is listed in my profile but I will post it here. lcollins123@verizon.net
