My bass is for sell. After my "Blond" Small Body, found out I was having younger bass and discovered my new love affair, simply wanted out. My 1976 simply wouldn't agree to be second string to the Toma_Hawk... and possible Jester bass (Message edited by toma_hawk01 on October 06, 2009) |

On the outside 3,100.00 USD I think this price is very generous price in deed... (Message edited by toma_hawk01 on October 06, 2009) |

I remember the last time you put it up for sale... that was pretty entertaining. $3,100 is more than fair though. |

The whole story behind this (which I never commended about it...) was at the beginning stages of the Toma_Hawk development. I felt if I sold Blondie too early, I would be without a fretted bass for lord knows, how long... So, at the time, my heart was not there, but I didn't want to just "yank" the ebay post prematurely, so I bumped the price, to fade out. Only. Really, I had no intentions in selling it after I learned how long it would take to build the Toma_Hawk, I got scared. I didn't want to be without an Alembic for too long. Also, I know good and well, once the Toma_Hawk is here, I wouldn't be playing it as much or if at all. It would just grow older and more jealous, and hate me... My Bondie is the best of the best Small Bodies, I ever played, and for the most part, all the years I been using this bass, happiness could be spread around at the price I am asking. Small Body basses are still my favorite Alembics, but the Toma_Hawk has stolen me away |

Hi Hal, Todd - very interested - does she come with an alembic blue case and a power pack? Can you tell me the weight of the bass? Any neck issues? Thanks |

I have a rack DS-5R and case I could let go... for a price... but those items are not listed on Ebay. It's the bass I am selling, DS-5R is very new, and I may not flip it unless I get very close to the price I paid. But, they're not hard to find. The bass weighs 11 LB. |

Hal, I really, really want your bass. I'm dying for an old short scale series bass. I'm sad I don't have the means right now. I would close a deal instantly. Because I know this bass has been treated the way it deserves... If I could only sell my Fender Jaco Pastorius Custom Shop Replica in time to buy your blondie... Greg |

Greg, Blondie was a very rare catch for me. You don't see old shorty's for sell much these days. I was hoping to find a matching fretless back in the day, but one never came my way. Nevertheless, I will always love this bass, I hope a Club member regular get's this bass, so I could have some relief and peace of mind, that this bass possibly getting the attention it needs with the Mothership and all of us who truly love Alembics. That would be so cool! |

Old school - 100% 4 ounces vinegar and a teaspoon of salt. It will put a shine and clean within minutes. I want the bass even more now (I might keep my shorty now...) |

KEEP IT ! Take it off ebay ! think it over , Do not do something that you can not un do, I sold a bass once that I still regret now and that was in 1978. That was my old Guild/Alembic with Amber trapizoidal pickups. Perhaps I am out of line in my suggestion , please forgive me if this is the case . (Message edited by sonicus on October 08, 2009) |

Wolf, GOT-DAMM!!! You are so right! My wife said the same thing: "DON'T SELL YOUR BASS!" keep it and use it during practices, but record and perform with the Toma_Hawk! I took it off EBAY. My shorty is off the market. "Lord, why do I feel like Abraham right about now?" (Message edited by toma_hawk01 on October 08, 2009) |

I was looking at Blondie deeply, and after I seen the tail piece 2 tone half wood (base) and brass (top) I asked myself: where do you ever think you'll ever see this fusion of wood and metal in such detail again? Over 30 years old, and she looks great! It's details like that... Most importantly, there's still too much good in keeping Blondie. So much more, that it would be bad. Man, both you and Wolf called it right. The bass stays with me. Much a do about nothing, sorry for all the noise. Blondie stays home. |

Hal, i am happy that you made an AWESOME decision to keep her, she's beautiful and if you keep it up( i'm sure you will) then it looks like she ahs at least another 30 in her. i admire you for how well you take care of your equipment, need to be more people out there that care as much as you do ~Taylor Watterson |

Taylor, Blondie had reached: "Heirloom Status". I'm "passing the buck" to my Children and they think this bass is the coolest. |

Glad you reconsidered man! I still kinda regret letting my series 2 go but it was 35 or 36" scale and if i hadn't sold it i might not have gotten my Distillate that i will never part with. If i had the $$ i would have bought it. Way to go man i can't wait to see pics of Blondie next to your Toma Hawk. |

Can't blame you for keeping such a beauty...but I was drooling over those photos! sonicus...ouch! I've seen pictures over the years that are probably your old Alembicized Guild. there can't be too many of them out there. we all have stories of the one that got away, but that's downright painful. |

Hal , I am happy that you approved of my thoughts on your Bass. I feel rewarded by your acknowledgement there of , Thanks ! I was starting to feel my regrets of my Old Alembicized Guild again . llobsterbass--- Yes , ____those trapezoidal clear amber pickups are still dancing in my head . I may ask Alembic to build me a custom design some day with clear amber pickups if possible .I have an image in my head already regarding such a project . Wolf, you were the final signal for me to pull the bass from Ebay. My wife said first, but it was like... "oh, I'll get around to it...". However after I read your post on this thread, it was like... Man, he's right. I better do it now, before anybody put their money down... |
