Yeah I saw that Distillate on ebay. The posted serial number is partially XX'd out, so that concerns me. I also asked the guy a few questions about it, but he only responds to my private email, not allowing his responses to be posted to the auction page. He also only allows PayPal eCheck, which is an instant deduction from your PayPal-linked checking account. I don't know whether to trust this one or not. Mark |

Dallas Vintage w/ 868 positive feedbacks - I think the seller is pretty trustworthy. Blanking out the last few digits of a serial number is done to prevent identity theft. eCheck will save the seller $70 and the risk of credit card fraud. That said, I think his price is several hundred too high. (Message edited by longhorncat on October 29, 2009) |

I appreciate the info. I have been scammed before on ebay and the guy had 100% positive feedback with 204 positives... so the numbers alone are not an absolute indicator of trust. XX-ing out the serial makes sense. I think it is too high also - but it is a really nice looking bass. |

I'd have to agree that the price seems high. Though I don't have a lot of experience in shopping for Alembics, I purchased my first, a Walnut top, 86 Distillate, a few months ago off EBay for $1,975. It was/is in perfect condition without even a hint of a scratch of buckle rash. |
