Dear friends and forum members, for quite some time I've waited for a miracle to happen, but it doesn't happen to me, so I have got to go this road. The John-Judge-Doubleneck has to leave me. All serious offers are appreciated. I wish you all a nice weekend, your Christian |

Mike, yes the bass is in Germany with Christian since a few years. If I had the money...... JJ is already informed; maybe the bass will go back to the hands of JJ? Oliver (Spyderman) |

I was sitting here trying to decide what it would be "worth", but that's not an easy determination. You basically have a Series 1 fretless AND a Series 1 8-string with all the trimmings. It's a "famous" bass in the Alembic/Roto Sound world. I don't know. If John were interested in reacquiring it, it would be great if that happened. |

I remember Rami talking about this bass quite a bit- Christian perhaps you could shoot him an email if you don't get offers. I haven't seen him around the forum much of late. |

I am in contact with John and he would be interested, generally, but he has experienced some real bad luck recently and needs to focus on other things at the moment. But Christian, talk to John anyway.... Oliver (Spyderman) |

Christian, what sort of figure do you consider to be a reasonable offer? Graeme |

Of course, I talked to John first, but as Oliver pointed out, he is interested in general, but cannot afford to get the bass back within the next few weeks. Maybe he will chime in here very soon... I will contact Rami within the next days, thank you for the input, Toby. Graeme, I bought the bass for $10,000 in 2005 and paid 8,500 Euro at an FX-rate of 1:1,17. Plus, I paid duties and import tax, so the total cost was above 10,000 Euro. That should give you a clue BUT: I am not trying to make a deal with this bass. Mike posted above that it is basically a Series I fretless and a Series I 8string fretted, but he forgot about the crazy stunning fretboard inlay with the skeletons fighting a dragon to save a woman It may be worth the price of a Series I bass plus a little more for one person, it was definately worth the price that I paid, for me anyway, it maybe worth a whole lot more for John or another person... We have read it in several threads about values of our guitars (hey, this was for you, Bill ) and basses, and I guess it really sums it up: The bass you are willing and able to get is worth the amount of money that you are willing and able to pay. Have a good night everybody, hope to hear or read from you soon, your Christian |

Christian: A shot at the famous John Judge doubleneck almost has me thinking about playing bass ... almost. But after scoring Old #10, my Alembic spending needs to be a bit more modest for a while or I'll incur the wrath of Senior Management - something I truly want to avoid! lol It really would be sweet if it wound up back in John's hands. It really is a priceless beauty. I empathize with your having to sell it. Your price range seems more than reasonable to me for such a unique instrument.
