I contacted the lister and he hasn't replied. I'm not an epic fan but for that price i'd buy it for sure. |

Appears to be the same one as posted under Wanted & Wishing - 100 bucks less, and an e-mail address. Sorry for the rhyming - it's getting close to December 5 here in the Netherlands. |

December 6 is Saint Nicolas Day - patron saint of Amsterdam, sailors and small children (in whichever order you prefer). He arrives mid-November in his steamboat from Spain, usually in a picturesque old harbour town - it's one of the TV events of the year over here. The night of December 5 is Boxing Evening: people exchange gifts packed up as something else, but always accompanied by a doggerel verse. Little children get their presents the next morning. |

I'm grabbing this one. I'll be offering it to the bass player in my band. He currently plays a fretted Epic 5 and recently started playing an upright, so I thought he'd like to check out a fretless Epic. Bill, tgo |

Did you get it Ibpesq? I've tried to contact the owner to ask about it and see photos several times and received no reply. |

Well another day passes and the owner hasn't contacted me. Perhaps it's sold? In any event I give up. Guess it wasn't meant to be. |

I spoke with the seller by phone on Tuesday. We agreed. He was supposed to be checking with UPS on shipping costs and then getting back to me. If he's now selling to someone else it's news to me. I'm sitting here waiting for his email with the final price! Bill, tgo |

For some reason my brain saw "Essence" when I read "Epic", so I'm actually NOT interested in this bass. The seller didn't tell me he already had a deal with Bill. However, this was all via a brief Email exchange. But I would proceed with caution. I actually asked him to take a photo of the bass with a current newspaper (with the date clearly visible) also displayed in order to verify that he actually had the bass. |

I just sent payment, so the bass should soon be back in California. I'm looking forward to messing around with it as the only fretless instrument I have ever played was a violin on which I sort of learned how to play "Fiddler on the Roof" when I was around 11 and we put on the show in summer camp. The bass arrived yesterday. Not in the best shape. As I posted in another thread, it's filthy, heavily tarnished, missing some screws, wrong screws, bubbling tuners, broken knob, and no strings on it. But it is, after all, an Alembic. I'll take some "before" pics tonight and hope to clean it up over the holidays. Then I'll post "before" and "after" pics. Bill, tgo |

If it's not too expensive to bring it back you still got a good deal for $900. Enjoy and being a person also interested in originally buying this instrument I'd love to see the before and after photos. Also it's Christmas Eve so MERRY CHRISTMAS! |
