If a club member hadn't sold me a BSX 2000 over a decade ago, this bass would be IT..... Seriously, although I didnt plug her in, this bass has serious mojo.....

Jazzyvee YOU CAN DO IT !
You can ! just get one and do It. Ideally it would be good to get some starter lessons from a classically trained player.Pizzicato playing will come easy to you but Arco technique (bowing) will require patience and perseverance on your part and lots of practice. I started using the French Arco technique (French Bow)but soon learned that the German Arco technique (German Bow) was more suited to my arm.

The bass player in my band fell into a stand-up bass a couple of years ago. He had never even played fretless previously, let alone a stand-up. He really enjoyed playing it from the beginning, even though the action was quite high - resulting in complaints of a painful left hand. He recently had the neck fixed and the bass set up for much lower action. He loves it and we have had a few acoustic sessions with him on stand-up and me on my Veillette Gryphon Hi-D Tenor 12 string guitar (think mandolin on steroids). So Jazzy, if you can swing it, don't hesitate to go for it. It would look really cool next to Dragon Magic.

That didn't go where I thought it was going. The bass player in my band fell into a stand-up bass a couple of years ago and ruptured a quad tendon.

He works as a High School teacher. The High School had this old stand-up that no one was using and they just gave it to him. Generally, my band tries to avoid literally falling into stuff.

Well, we were on break at this bar/restaurant, packed for a party, no barrier between crowd and stage area, and a drunk fell into the guitar players strat and deluxe reverb.

Years and years ago, a friend and I went to see Maynard Ferguson at a local college. We got there early and got to watch the band finish setting up. The set up was guitar, horns and bass player on the front row and percussion, drums and keys on a riser behind them. The guitar player's ES-335 was sitting in a stand as the percussion guy finished up. You know where this is going. Percussion guy accidentally bumps one of his congas, it tips, wobbles --- and over it goes, onto the guitar player's 335. Guitar guy rushes out looking like he's just lost a close relative. Words are exchanged. Guitar guy plays the show on a Stratocaster and frequently turns to GLARE up at percussion guy. I imagine things were tense on the tour bus that night.

Pardon the hijack, have you guys seen the superb Classico on ebay? Good luck with the sale Jeff, that thing has got to be amazing to play.

Flax,

I wish I had the $. I just bought a Series II 6 from Shawn C (kungfusheriff) which is my dream bass, but I'll tell you- I'd sure love to have a Classico.

Good luck with the sale- and if you still have it, come Income Tax Time, just maybe... Though my wife will most certainly kill me!

See you at the next Gathering!!!

Now, if only I had the $.

Peace;)

Flax,

If only I had the $!!! Good luck in the sale. If you still have it after Tax time, we might be talking more about this... I wish I had the money!
I've always wanted an upright, but a Classico would be beyond astounding!

Anyone want to lend a brother $8k?

Peace All;)
