I found a 60's Guild Starfire ($1895) at Corner Music. I know some of you guys are into these boats, and as rare as they are, I'd pass it along. It's from the 60's. Cherry finish. Looks its age, but in good shape. Has had the pickups changed out for later DeArmonds, but I'm guessing the DarkStars would fit. Even has the 'Guild StarFire' truss rod cover. I know NOTHING about these things, so call my friend JD at Corner Music, (615)297-9559, on 12th Ave South here in Nashville. www.cornermusic.com Corner is THE local music store just off Music Row, first-rate. You have to be when most of the session players and studio owners are your customers! I trust JD completely. J o e y |

I dig Corner Music as they've got Dee Murray's G&L hanging up there and all the sales guys have been nothing but nice and informative. Just my way way of saying they're not d..ks. ;) |

As JD NEVER works on Saturdays, I just spoke to him and got the skinny on the Starfire: First it already has DarkStars installed (NOT DeArmonds). It was originally a single p/u and had two DarkStars professionally installed. Corner is rewiring it to a vol/vol/tone/pickup switch to be mostly period correct, but as JD points out, it won't have the push/pulls like the original (I'm glad he knows this, I'm clueless about these axes). Has the funky bridge with wood saddles. It has the original Guild case. You can EMail JD at jwilly@cornermusic if interested. Again, I can't recommend JD and Corner highly enough. J o e y |
