Hi all,

Saw this on Ebay.UK:

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Alembic-Bass-Guitar_W0QQitemZ170465165663QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_Musical_Instruments_Guitars_CV?hash=item27b084015f

I may be mistaken, but doesn't ALL Alembic basses have an XLR output built in?? This one hasn't.
I thought ALL Alembic basses had one.

Your thoughts/wisdom please??

Grtz,

Bassplayer

Thought/wisdom: Look around on this site ;-)

Generally only the Series I/II have the 5 pin output.

@ fc spoiler:

Only the Series I/II??
I thought that Signature series should have the 5-pin xlr at least??

Btw: it would not be good for me to look too long on this site at these magnificent basses: makes me cry even HARDER for not having one ;-)

Yep, only Series I/II
There are some non Series instruments with the 5 pin output, but that's highly unusual...

This is a relative safe section of this site to learn about all the electronics packages: Click here

Thanks for the very interesting thread BTW; i'm already looking through it...

Kind regards,

Bassplayer

Looks like the first time this bass was listed it didn't get any bids - shame as it is a nice looking MK Sig but I reckon it's just a bit too pricey for a standard sig with no laminates (even for UK prices).

Dropped the seller a mail suggesting he post it onto the club site, but bassplayer had already spotted it on eBay and posted it earlier today! :D

@ jix,

Sorry about that; with my VERY LOW posting here, i thought that someone else would already seen it on The Bay.....
Good thing to be first for once.......made my day ;-)

Regards,

Bassplayer

P.s.: regarding prices being asked on Ebay, i think it's a good thing to post here. Wouldn't know a good deal if i saw one i'm afraid.....

Still no bids on this after a re-list. Shame really, but it does seem that the UK market for 2nd hand Alembics is not strong at the moment - Angelboy's beautiful Series 1 is another example unfortunately.

I am a UK buyer and these are the price bands I consider fair based on past deals -

Signature standard: £1500-£2000 dependent on wood, leds etc (in 2005 I bought a AAA quilt maple MK with front laser leds for £1500)
Signature Deluxe - £2250-£3000 (paid £2200 for a Brown Bass in 2005, and was happy to pay £3k in 2006 to get back my coco stan sig deluxe with sII prep cavities, chrome hardware, 20th anni electronics, front and side leds)

Anything above signature level you would be crazy to pay UK prices - easier and cheaper to get a deal in the US and buy a plane ticket to go collect - have bought 3 used series basses this way on this very forum for less than signature prices in UK.

Damn I wish I kept those basses lol

I would agree with your UK pricings for used Alembics I have seen some instruments on Ebay UK that are priced ridiculously high and re-listed many times as a result. I did buy a series guitar from the USA last year but didn't have sanity of mind at the time, (grrrrr), to fly over to Texas to get it and as a result gave the revenue and customs a huge tax bonus that would have been easily covered a return trip and accommodation for a couple of nights.
Next time I will be more awake.

Ah see Jazzyvee - I wish I had been able to tip you off in advance!! The customs bill is always more than enough to instead cover a pleasant stateside trip :-)

And Mica... I have finally learned, just when I don't have any money left to utilise those hard-earned lessons lol
