Hi Mal and welcome to the forum. Sounds like a fine Alembic bass. Here is a previous thread on the bass while it was listed on eBay (eBay link and pictures on thread). If you care to post the pictures here you may find instructions to do so here. If you are having any sizing issues feel fre to contact me for assistance.

Sorry to see no-one bid on it on eBay, Mal - big shame as it's a lovely looking bass.

Hope that you get more success with the members on the club - best of luck.

The trouble is you are looking for deluxe money on a signature standard - for me it would have been tempting at 2k, but is overpriced at the mo.

Did you get any offers?

Hi pclifton

There is no trouble here. It is my bass and I will not sell it for less than 2500.00. If nobody agrees with my valuation then it is no hardship for me to keep this fabulous bass in my collection.

When it is your bass, then you can set the price.

It didn't sell, therefore there was clearly trouble, ie you set the price wrong for the market.

If there was no hardship for you to keep it, you wouldn't have advertised it. It's not rocket science.

Hmmm...,

I can't speak as to prices in London, but US buyers can easily pick up new MK Standards at that price. [It is a beautiful bass though, I'd be tempted to keep it!]

I hope you don't mind me jumping in here for a quick note. In my view, there is nothing here worth further escalating this little disagreement. There is nothing here worth getting defensive about. It is entirely understandable that we react to what we may perceive to be slights, that we get defensive, that we respond. However, when we do that, it tends to make ourselves and others a bit irritable. Kind of a buzz kill. That's my view.

Despite our desire to be more diligent in moderating the forum, we as moderators don't want to go rushing in to quell every little disagreement or emotional flareup that occurs on the forum. It's difficult for us to know when to step in, and when not to. So in this case, we just wanted to post a little reminder, especially since there was a new member present, that each side here has made their point and there's no need to take it further.

Dave, well said, as usual. Everybody is entitled to his own opinion.

I probably could have gotten a Persuader for a few hundred less than what I paid but as it turned out, this bass was in almost perfect condition with no fret wear at all either. I actually feel fortunate.

If I ever do sell it, I'm sure I will welcome the input from the fellow members here and bet at least someone will advise me to consider lowering the price :-)

Knowing me, I'd save it for my grandson before letting it go for less than I feel it's worth, lol!

Peace
