An extra knob (master volume?) and two extra switches. Any guesses?

I would guess master V and mellow filters. C'mon, at that price he can't include the case?

Though the listing describes at as a long scale, I suspect it is rather a medium scale, given the body shape. Nice looking instrument.

Now theres an example of one of those Alembics I really want, but could never afford because people seem to take the factory list prices for a Series I far too seriously, and think they are doing us a favor by asking "so little". 3500, and I would place a bid. I know its gotta be hard for the seller, but this just no longer happens to be the type of economy where people pay close to list for a used Alembic.

Sam, I dismiss the "list price" sales pitch too. But, if this one was offered for $3500 several dozen members of this club (strictly bass players included) would cause a feeding frenzy in attempt to snatch her up...

The master volume & mellow filters do add a fair premium to that typical 3.5K ballpark that we're used to.... But, for the asking price I would hope for a top and back that's a little more exotic than maple or walnut, but that's just me....

Just reading through the posts here and thinking that whatever a person gets for an instrument is what someone else is willing to pay and while people who decide against buying can comment on the asking price until they see the next instrument they feel is overpriced, what a person is willing to part with a high end instrument for is their own choice. Frankly, I'm glad when I see Alembics bring higher prices than current market as they do cost double and triple new what they bring used - it makes our own instruments that much more likely to bring us more money when and if we sell. If you consider that a Fender Custom Shoop bass can go for near $4000, an Alembic at that price is clearly a great value for the money (and I do love lightweight Custom Shops!) Hope he finds a buyer at his price! I still find so many musicians who are not familiar with Alembic which contributes to the low prices. Wouldn't any of us who buy a new Alembic like to see it appreciate? My original post in this thread was one of appreciation. Though I may not buy it (maybe I will!), I don't feel any need to comment on what he is asking or may or may not get - that's all speculation which could even serve to dissuade someone who was giving it consideration. As an owner of a 74 and a 75, I will always be willing pay more for early Alembics than later ones of the same model. We all have our addictions! Love to all! Todd

I had a 74 short scale bass (#74-49) that looked just like this one. I'm having one of those "I should never had sold it" moments.

Love the green pickup models and would buy every one of them if they were liberated! Appears the seller got his $5k. Bully!
