http://tucson.craigslist.org/msg/1696253835.html I'm very tempted. Is he asking a fair price? Are there any probems I should be on the lookout for? Thanks for the help! Mark |

The only thing im thinking is asking for pics & its gonna need a possible electronics upgrade......but nevertheless it's a fair deal but still talk him down if you can! |

I talked to Tony when he had this Bass for sale about a year ago and I was planning on driving to Tucson , Arizona to get it and then all of a sudden my 97 Cocobolo long scale standard point Series II came into my life . I recently noticed that he had re-listed this Bass a while ago. He sent me pics of it a year ago. I believe that it is all original 1975 Alembic Series I .I also know that it has a Rosewood finger board instead of Ebony. I might call him again as well But I am not sure yet how seriously I will pursue it . Perhaps one of us will end up with it . |

While I'm tempted, I'm a bit leery knowing that I'd probably need to do the electronics upgrade, which adds to the cost and time to get it to playing brilliance. And yet, I NEED a series bass! |

Mark, My '76 is quiet, no upgrade needed, they are not all noisy. My friends '77 is also dead quiet. You would have to check it out. Kenn |

I have a '76 Series I guitar and a '77 Series I 12 string guitar. Neither needed the electronics upgrade. Both are quiet and I live in a congested urban area - San Francisco Bay Area. Bill, tgo |

Any thoughts about the rosewood fingerboard? All Alembics I've played had an ebony board, and I'm curious what effects the rosewood board would have. Anyone have a rosewood fingerboard Alembic? |

My '76 has a rosewood fingerboard. I can't honestly say that I have ever noticed any difference other then cosmetic. Bill, tgo |

I've now seen a photo of the spec sheet, and it lists the electronics as "PFG CC". Are those standard series 1? It has the following recipe: top & back: padauk core: mahogany neck: maple, padauk laminations fingerboard: rosewood veneers: padauk, satin wood tuners: schaller inlays: abalone strings: pyrimid [sic] gold scale: 34 alembic electronics #: PFG CC |

The "PFG CC" notation seems a bit of a mystery. Do you think you can get some good pictures of the electronics? |

I can ask for more pictures. In the meantime, here are a couple he sent me. I'm going to fix the white balance just to get a better idea of what the top actually looks like....

That's PF6, not PFG. Haven't found anything on the CC part yet. |

Those look like the same photos that he sent me about a year ago the first time that he had it for sale . We had a nice discussion about the instrument back then. |

Been waiting for something like this to come up for awhile. Since it's local I'm going to take a look at it in person this weekend. Seller indicates its in good condition. Only downside is body is reported to have significant "weathering?checkering." |

If this short scale has it's power supply and cord, then it's under priced by $500. The long scale in AZ is overpriced by about the same amount. |
