Signature series, flame maple that changes color and appearance as the light hits it. This bass is about 9.6 on a scale of 10, and the 0.4 is due to some slight oxidation of the bridge(the rest of the bass has no oxidation) and a slight loss of alembic lettering on the pick ups. New strings, action is medium. If you have always wanted a nice minty short scale Alembic bass, look no further. I really do not play this bass as much as it should be......some like to collect basses, and this would be good for that as well, but this should be played. 98SJ11850 Woods are mahogany body, maple neck, Flame maple top and headstock. Comes with gig bag. 4000$ USD, shipped in USA cont only. Not interested in trades. Thank you |

4000$ USD$ shipped, any less, I'll just keep her. I will surely have serious remorse as the sale is pending or going through. Lusted for one of these for 20+ years. Still, with 6 basses sitting here ....time to let a few go. |

mg1125, This is a "Stanley Clarke Signature Standard." Using the word "series" to describe an Alembic instrument that is not a "Series I" or "Series II" is generally a bad idea. It tends to cause confusion to those who are not thoroughly literate in the Alembic product lines. The differences between a Signature Standard and a Series instrument are very significant in both cost and construction. Take a look in the FAQs section of this board system to read some more about the Series electronics package if you're interested. I believe this instrument was offered previously on another site and was discussed on one of the forums here when a member expressed interest. Tom, a note from that other thread is that the pickups on your bass are mounted incorrectly compared to how they come from the factory. Can you shed light on how that might have happened and if it is reversible? |

So yes, it is reversible. Also, yes, it's a "Standard", not a "Series" 1 or 2, which I would like to believe is rather obvious to anyone really interested in buying it, but good to point out in case someone think it is, and plans on dropping 4K$ on a quick impulse buy. I doubt I'd sell it to them anyway Needs a good home. I added Alembic strings as well. (Message edited by plantbrain on June 08, 2010) |

Hey Tom Beautiful bass. I have a Maple topped SC Standard as well... I love it!!! I don't think Bob was questioning the "adjustment" of the PUPs, but rather how they are mounted. There should only be 2 PUP screws visible (the other two should be under the PUP and used to set the height). Whenever you see all 4 screws we naturally wonder what's going on (the PUP should be flopping around in the cavity unless other alterations were also made). If you have remounted the PUPs, I would recommend you take another photo showing them correctly mounted. While this may seem like a minor issue, for some of us it is a "red flag" that there might be other issues with the instrument. Please accept this with the benevolence with which it is intended and good luck with the sale. |
