Hey, 1990 Short scale six on ebay, with Barts in it, what a shame. this is what I was looking for but with the heart and soul gone I don't know. Sorry lost the link, but I am sure we all know how to find Alembics on e-bay by now. Nice looking though very tempting and almost worth the effort to put new electronics in it. | ||

Looks pretty unusual, like a purpleheart neck maybe? I would be interested to know the details of that neck. At first I thought the neck had a painted finish, but when I looked at the enlarged photos I wasn't sure; maybe it's Purpleheart and Walnut. If someone corresponds with the seller and gets the serial number, it would be nice to get the build specs on it. I would guess that a small body 6 string is probably going to be a bit neck heavy; but it's a nice looking bass. Retrofitting Signature electronics would probably not be too expensive if the pickup cavities haven't been modified. The listing says that the bass "appears to be all original" which is misleading to say the least. | ||

I can't tell; is that a toggle switch on the control cavity back plate? Surely not; that would dig into your body while playing. I must be seeing things. | ||

What is it all of a sudden, with the instruments with Alembic electronics taken out! I always believed Alembics had to be put IN to call it an upgrade... Silly me. Seriously, though: The bass would almost have to have serious balance issues with such a heavy neck. Brother Quincy's five string short scale neck (on a Stanley) put him through some changes when he first received his bass ( http://alembic.com/club/messages/631/6033.html?1069969768 ). It seems like the bass on Ebay could be significantly more neck heavy than Quincy's. Does anyone have any experience with a 6 string, short scale, small standard bass? I remember this bass. The neck is Purpleheart and Vermilion. I'm sure it's neck heavy, depending on the player (would dela think it was neck heavy?). It totally obvious the pickups have been changed out , and there's that little issue of a closed up control hole. Funky. Earlier today I was speaking to a club member on the phone. He asked the seller for the serial number, which the seller didn't provide. I've emailed the seller and requested the serial number. We'll see what we can find out! I have a scrap from that neck around here somewhere. When it was new, the orange and purple neck set up a really weird negative color vibration - it almost made you dizzy! | ||

If you supersize the body close up the s/n is partially visible on the truss rod cover. The seller states that it starts with 90C. The rest looks like it could be 537 maybe. Sam |
