Hi Ulf.

Nice looking SC.

Not sure whether you've thought of a price you were looking for it, but this might give you an idea of what things are going for at the moment - http://alembic.com/club/messages/395/82229.html?1278312237 ($3,000 = c. EUR 2,400)

(this one has LED's and the body is more a custom shape so I'd guess it's probably worth more than yours - but at the end of the day, a bass is worth what you're prepared to sell it for and what someone is prepared to buy it for in return).

Best of luck with the sale.
Cheers

Hi Ulf, a lovely looking bass - more images would be helpful. I'm in Europe and interested in the SC. More details would be appreciated (and some idea of price). Good luck, cheers, Lozbass

James,
thank you for your opinion...
the price of the bass is really very cheap, but only for people from USA...import from the U.S. will cost 19% tax and import duty, I believe 6.4%, and even shipping

Lawrence,
I hope have time to take pictures tonight from my SC...than I will posting here

Hi Ulf.

All fair points - just wanted to give you something to use as a guideline. As I said - it's worth whatever you're prepared to sell it for. If you can't get what you want for it then you shouldn't sell it (if you can afford to).

Best of luck with the sale - hope you manage to find a club member to sell to, to keep it in the family.

All the best

James, that other bass is being offered at an unnaturally low price. I wouldn't let that one go under $4500 and it can't be a yardstick for this bass.

So this bass is an SC Signature Standard upgraded with purpleheart neck stringers, abalone ovals and a cocobolo top.

Hi Ulf.

Sorry if I caused any offence - I only meant to help give you something to use to judge a price against for another non-series bass that's on the market at the moment.

Yours is a lovely looking SC and I'm sure someone will snap it up from you.

Best of luck with the sale.

Hi Enzo,
I think its not a good time for selling Alembics....

so I don´t know wht price asking for.
I see on ebay the same SC as mine for
£4.695,00

http://cgi.ebay.de/Alembic-Stanley-Clarke-Bass-/170498833674?cmd=ViewItem&pt=UK_Musical_Instruments_Guitars_CV&hash=item27b285bd0a

It is from 2009
My Bass is from 2008

So would £4.000 be a good price??

(I do not want so sell my baby on ebay....)

The UK/Euro market is so odd to an American. I just quoted out this bass and you could order a new one for about $7500 US from the right dealer. With the best monthly special, it would be more like $6800. That's not far from the eBay price you referenced, though it doesn't cover any of the costs associated with importing to the UK. In the US, the used bass would probably go for $4000-4500 in a private sale.

In any case, a European asking price of £4.000 doesn't sound out of line. If you go back five years to when I most closely followed the Alembic markets, it was very common for the UK value in pounds to equal the US value in dollars for used instruments. The difference between an '08 and an '09 is nil.

ok, after all of these feedbacks,
I want to try asking for

£ 4.000
€ 4.750

shipping in Germany 0€
shipping Europe 120€

I think its a fair price for european Alembic Friends

Good Luck, Ulf. That's a beautiful bass. Somebody will want it (I wish I could).
