I'm not sure if this just a pendant or a re-purposed logo as it says in the description.

It's an old logo...
"This is a pendant made from an official cast Alembic logo with a ring soldered to the top to allow it to be worn as a pendant"

When I see an auction like that I have to smile, because I have three of them:

One on my Series II
One on my Distillate
One on my Orion

I guess I'm dumb, does (or did) alembic make pendants like that? I think it's pretty cool. how does something like this come to happen? does it happen a lot? it's up to like $75.00! I want one really.

I have a small Alembic pin, I've seen several different styles...some with colored enamel,
and IIRC they made some pendants.
Here's a pic of mine (sorry for the crappy pic...it's still in the plastic.)

what is IIRC? can I buy one? I'd like to have a necklace, that's what I thought was so cool about the fake auction you guys made fun of, but I think it's a really cool idea. how do I get one? I've been in love with these basses since I was 14 (I'm 31 now) and I've drooled over that cloud, hand, serpent, alembic icon like it's a crucifix. do the people at alembic ever read these posts? ...maybe you guys are at alembic for all I know. help me out, please.

Hi Lloyd! At one time, quite some time ago, Alembic made pendants. Some folks had the idea that they could buy a pendant and stick it on a non-Alembic bass, call it an Alembic, and sell it for a lot more than it was worth. So Alembic stopped selling pendants. For the same reason, if a real logo off of an instrument shows up on Ebay, Alembic will contact the seller and ask them to end the auction. If you want to buy a logo, you can order one from Alembic that will come mounted in a custom hand-built wood display case. The display case can also be used as a musical instrument.
