I have a lovely black 88 spoiler in black with chrome trimmings and wondered if anyone wanted to trade this for their black 5 string Elan, Europa or Spoiler? Must be black and with 5 strings! I would dearly love jazzyvee's new 5er but he doesn't want to sell, hardly surprisingly. So looking for something on similar lines. I am based in the UK in London. |

Hi mumra. I will only sell my Spoiler if I get an offer of a 5 string first as I don't want to be left without an Alembic! |

Should have added that I am happy to buy outright, although a trade is easier. If you have a black 5 er you wish to sell or trade please email me at mark dot Clark at db dot com. Thanks! |

All the best in your search Clarkybass. However if you do find a recently made europa or Elan bass in excellent condition with signature or series electronics similar to mine but with a natural wood finish we could talk. No guarantee's. Jazzyvee (Message edited by Jazzyvee on September 01, 2010) |

I could also offer my Alleva-Coppolo Willie Weeks as a trade option. This unique prototype (which is shown on Jimmy Coppolo's website - its the mint green P/J bass shown under 'Signature' series here http://allevacoppolo.com/basses/signature/signature-model/) was used by the great WW on Eric Clapton's 2008/9 world tour and I paid £2600 for it recently. "If you do find a recently made europa or Elan bass in excellent condition with signature or series electronics similar to mine but with a natural wood finish we could talk." In answer to this, Jazzyvee, I will keep my eyes open. Likewise if you spot a bass along these lines and you need to raise the necessary funds by selling your black Elan/Europa please contact me (PS, I resolved that tax demand I mentioned a couple of weeks ago and so I am ready, willing and able to pay a decent amount now!) |

Doesn't have sig electronics but might float your boat Jazzyvee? On eBay in Portugal (so no 20% import taxes!) http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ALEMBIC-ELAN-5-STRINGS-BASS-1992-VINTAGE-EXCELLENT-COND-/120616635499?pt=UK_Musical_Instruments_Guitars_CV&hash=item1c154fcc6b |

Thanks Dave! Could I ask if it's possible to get a replacement truss rod cover as my incoming one has a black after-market one and I would like to restore it to the original look. I checked the Alembic site and could not see any option to buy a TRC. Thank you in advance. (Message edited by Clarkybass on September 05, 2010) (Message edited by Clarkybass on September 05, 2010) |

Damn Clarky that is a gorgeous bass and a perfect example of why I prefer natural wood finish on alembics.......!!!!!!!!!!! But yes the electronics package I think would be a concern for me and one of the reasons I didn't persue it when I saw it here about a year ago. For the music I play I have found a need for more control of the HF content that the maple brings to the sound and the signature does give me that as does the EMW on my elan 4. It would be interesting to hear what you think of the bass when you get it. Elans are a really different alembic sound. As for the colour, you could always get it re-sprayed black in the future if you decide it's a keeper. Glad you found a good bass Clarky. Jazzyvee |

Thanks jazzyvee! I did think about a gloss black re-fin but the wood is so nice on this I think I will see how I get along with it first. Perhaps an option would be to have a translucent black finish so the flame is still visible? Lets see when I get the bass - hopefully by the end of this week. |

Hey Clarky, if your bass does not have a pukker alembic case. I have just bought a Scott Dixon flight case for one of my basses which is light enough and strong enough to use as an all round case, so I have an original alembic case that I could do with offloading. I've started selling off some of my surplus cases on ebay as I had a load of flight cases made when I was touring so have virtually two cases per touring instrument. With no touring plans in the near future they are just taking up space so I plan to sell off and replace them with the scott dixon cases. Let me know if you are interested. Jazzyvee |
