Interesting pickup configuration on that- seems like the jazz pickups are stacked a lot closer than normal.

Excellent bass in brilliant condition. I notice faint fret lines. Were those original from manufacture or a later modification from de-fretting a fretted bass?

OH NO.

Would you be interested in a trade perhaps?

Either one of these?

1978 Autumn Glo on left, SUPER THIN NECK.....
1981 Walnut on right.....SUPER CHUNKY NECK....

BOTH mint as new.

Thanks for the offer Tony, but I can't accept trades for the Elan or my Series I.... Those are BEAUTIFUL Rics though!!!!

Thanks for all the compliments, guys. It's a great bass, has been a joy to play, and I'd like to pass it on to another club member.

To answer Toby & Jazzy's questions, the "neck" pup is in the MM "sweet spot". I'm not sure if that is for the tonal aspect or as to not impede with slapping... The original owner had no insight to the placement either. The fingerboard IS lined, and it came from the factory that way. Knowing your affinity for Elans, Jazzy, I'd consider a special exception to my shipping policy if you're interested!

Thanks for the response Mike....I HAD to ask! :-)

Not a problem, best of luck with the sale.

Really sweet Elan!

The "Twins" will be happy about it anyway! :-)

I've never played fretless bass otherwise I would be struggling with my conscience with that one. I fancy trying double bass for my first attempt at fretless bass playing. Sure is a gorgeous tempting bass though and thanks for the special exception. :-)

All the best in the sale.

Nice looking instrument... I've sort-of been on the lookout for an Alembic fretless. Is it a long scale or medium scale? What is the top wood?

Beautiful Elan and a fair price, too. I like the pick up placement, wish mine was like that.

Jazzyvee - don't "fret" it! I had only limited experience with fretless basses when I bought mine. Still have to work at it, but the transition was much easier than I had anticipated.

I really like this bass but want to wait for a fretless series 2. It looks so good mike, I'm surprised no one has jumped at the chance to own such a nice bass.
