Now this looks beautiful: http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3714804310 Anyone out there know it's history -- it is pretty distinctive. Any guesses on the fingerboard wood? I've asked the seller but no response yet. Think it's a Mark King Deluxe? |

The description seems (if I read it right) to be saying the top, fingerboard and headstock are all cocobolo. I have to admit, the fingerboard does look like it could be cocobolo. The figuring on the front looks really pretty as does the stinger. I'd be interested in what year the bass is, ser#, history, if known. The seller is a newbie on Ebay, but the selling info seems to relate more to art objects. Maybe a dealer who picked the bass up from a "collection" as he/she puts it. If so, probably not an expert on the instrument. When I look at used (pre-loved)instruments, I'm usually looking for a bargain. If the bass is truly mint, the starting price is probably the most I'd want to pay (A couple of wild cards that could change this assessment of the value would be whether the logo is inlaid and the hardware gold-plated) - All other things equal, you can buy the bass new for not too much more, if you get a good monthly special and a good dealer discount. Of course that kind of figuring is hard to find... Bill |

The pictures and description in Custom Archive say the body core is flame maple and the accent lamintate is purpleheart. Unusual and distinctive! |
