What do you all think of this? It's a Distillate, but it has a SC body shape. (So I guess the electronics makes it a Distillate. No?)

The seller has come down a lot from his original listing price. My guess is that someone may very well buy it at the current $2,000 price. And if it's in good condition, the current price seems reasonable. The picture quality isn't great, but it appears to have a really nice top. That and the Distillate electronics and the Small Standard Body are a nice and unusual combination. The Mahogany body looks nice in the picture. Maple and Purpleheart neck. Original hard shell case. I think it's a very nice bass for the what the seller is now asking. Seller doesn't mention the scale length.

davehouck,

Thank you. I sure wish (s)he would have posted the scale length. Presumably a 32", but...

Found here in the club, as well as here, where the scale length is given as 30.75", i.e., short scale.

Look again, I do not think that is the same instrument. I think the one on ebay might be medium scale . It might be neck heavy . I will have to admit however that I have been very tempted by the one on ebay.I think that I must resist temptation however.
Not that easy for me sometimes !

Just under 19 hours left; plenty of time to email the seller and ask them to measure from the nut to the 12th fret.

O bids ! I will be watching again to see if it is resisted.

"Lieber Gott Im Himmel !" - if I were to buy this I could end up driving in the " Cold Rain And Snow " way to far to do a personal pick up.
I must resist temptation again _______

Dave, Sonic, I contacted the seller twice about scale length and serial number. (S)he never responded. Maybe not serious about selling? Spooked by my request for SN???

tccuube ; Not responding to a serial number request is certainly not conducive towards an up front approach for any prospective transaction, One must also consider the variables such as email filters and the such. I would wait and see if the seller re-lists and then be quite conscientious towards sending a few more inquiries.
I wish you the best towards a good transaction. I think it is also a good idea to have a phone conversation with the seller before you commit your self towards 'Going for the Gold" in any bidding. Talk about expedited shipping and extra super packing if you are going have the instrument shipped. I usually lean towards personal pick up ,but that of course is not always feasible in some cases .

Sonic Regards and the best of luck to you .

I love it when a seller has time to relist his auction but doesn't have time to respond to questions...

This might be a re-post (apologies if so!), but the seller replied with SN and scale info - 3hrs after the auction's end. Strange way to do business, as Mechanic says.

Anyway, this might be a good time to mull it over - perhaps a sign from the gods of eBay prudence.

I purchased the bass in this thread at the recent eBay auction. It sounds and looks terrific. The seller turned out to be very trustworthy and helpful throughout the transaction. I need to retract the suspicions that I voiced in this thread. Pics are here in the Showcase part of the Forum: http://alembic.com/club/messages/411/93579.html?1294725698
Thank you all for weighing in on all my Distillate-newbie questions.
