If anyone is looking to part with a cab, I am interested. Especially if it can handle my MK5 with low B.

Robin, I've got an El Whappo Jr. I'd sell, but I am in Central Florida. If you're still in CA, I'd think shipping costs would be prohibitive.

Alan,

$1000 if you are willing to pick it up here in Winter Haven. It's in excellent shape. I've just been using it as an onstage drum/bass monitor in church. Check your e-mail. Otherwise, you can contact me at drjenney[AT]earthlink.net.

Hey Robin,

I have a an El Whappo Sr with cover which If interested I would match that for $1000 & we can work out the shipping. Great sounding cab with low hours on it !!!!!! also have many other cabs I would be willing to part with including some rare Ampeg isovents which are discontinued due to low sales volume BUT arguably the best sounding ampeg cabs for the low B ever made!!!!

Cheers,

Stephen

Hey Stephen, the 15 of the Sr. does sound great to me, and my low B likes it too! Will send email shortly.

Tim- My inclination is to look into the Sr. first. Please don't hesitate to arrange another sale in the mean time. If your Jr is still available later we can go from there.

Robin,
No problem. I actually have another club member here in FL thinking about it.

For what it's worth, I would have bought the Sr., but decided I liked the punch of the Jr. better. It handles the low B just fine. I anticipated adding an Whappo Grande (18" !) to the system down the road if I ever decided to string my Essence 6 F#-B-E-A-D-G. Can you say "Voice of God"?!?

That low F# would be 23.125 HZ ! What string gauge would you use ?

Yes, sorry, my mistake, the Whappo Grand is 21". Accugroove's specs say its range is 22-400 Hz (http://www.accugroove.com/).

Conklin offers F# strings at both .150 and .167 (http://www.conklinguitars.com/bass_strings.html). I'm not sure how tight the string tension would be on my Essence. Anyone here tried them and know?

Hey, for what it's worth I use an El Whappo, Jr with my Series II 5 strings and it handles the my low B (standard tuning) with zero problems. Both the El Whappo and the El Whaoop, Jr are fantastic cabs that match perfectly with the full-range sound of an Alembic.

I suppose the logical question is why did you guys prefer the Jr over the El Whappo?

@ Robin,

Did you ever receive the pics of the El Whappo ?
Haven't heard from you since I sent them & was just curious if you were still interested in the cab or if I should post the pics here on the forum?
