ALERT! "ALEMBIC stanley clarkes standard deluxe with series ll electronics - $17000" appears on craigslist LasVegas. But it is surely "Ferbic"! There are no peghead photo with logo. The bass has 4 pegs and round PU selecter, same as Ferbic. Eiji |

This is listed as a Series II, except the Series II electronics do not use 3 way switches for the frequency point of the sweep. Instead you can adjust the frequency point using a knob for greater flexibility as compared to a Series I. Something is amiss here! |

$17K? Well, I guess you'd expect to pay that for a Standard Deluxe. Peter |

The maple core looks odd too. And the zebra wood quarter sawn top. Dave |

OK, maybe it's not quarter sawn. However, it does remind me of a lot of Fernandez I have seen photos of. |

I did, too. But was sent mostly 4k thumbs. I also asked for photos of the power supply and cable, and the serial number. That seemed to stop the flow of communication... |

Do you ever think that there are just people out there who find say, a Fernandez bass or guitar, who know NOTHING about instruments at all, who have a friend, who knows say, very little about guitars/basses and says, WOW THAT LOOKS LIKE AN ALEMBIC! I've heard of them, they are very expensive! Then the owner of the bass/guitar goes online, checks out Alembic's price list, and sees that a custom made series instrument starts out at around 13,000 dollars, and honestly thinks that they will get that for the guitar they stumbled on to? Or do you think it is all a scam/ with evil intent? I think about this when I see Rogue basses on ebay going for like 5,500. The people can't always be that greedy, they just may not be wise enough when it comes to Alembics to know that despite the 6,800 factory list price, a used rogue bass generally sells for a little over 2000. This is also why when a guitar store gets ahold of a series bass or guitar, they generally want around 6 to 10 grand for it, rather than the 3-4 grand we all know it should be. |

Yeah, who are these people? Doesn't EBay charge to post stuff? I see it on Craigslist too. |

Oh yeah, one of those Ferbandes Almebics, made in Pajan back in the 08's. Sounds great through a Mambeg STV's with the 10-8 bacinet. I like the way they sound especially with ground-wound springs, though they really sing with ground-sirloin Mean Darkley's. Doesn't way whether the 48 amp flower apply with the 5-string cabal is occluded . . . E o j y |
