My co-worker sent me a link to the Gear Page Forum of a guy selling an Alembic AXY Activator pickup assembly on Ebay. Here is his thread:

"A complete Alembic AXY Activator pickup assembly

This is on ebay now, but I may give a discount to a gearpager if asked.
Item number:180631446435
A complete Alembic AXY Activator pickup assembly (two pick ups, some controls, battery pack, ¼” jack and screws, etc.) rescued from the depths of the wayback-vault where they have been for about 20 years. I bought this pickup assembly to put in a guitar back in the day and never got around to it. These are pretty rare.

I think the controls are volume, tone, blend and a switch to change between active and passive modes of operation. I will verify this tomorrow.

Although it is still available, the assembly now goes for $1100.00 on the Alembic website.

These pickups are in excellent “next to new” condition with some very minor surface scratching from being in a box with other stuff for years. Both pups read a healthy 9.5K ohms guaranteed no DOA. The pictures show the lead wires with no connectors. However, I have since sent this assembly to Alembic and they added some connectors and gave this set-up a clean bill of health.

Thanks for looking."

if they aren't Alembic electronics it won't sound as good. i ran a couple Alembic pickups passive just to see how it'd sound and did not like the sound. but judging from having 3 pots and a switch i'm going to say the controls(if Alembic) are: volume, pan, filter, and q-switch
