If you check his profile pic, Bill, I think you'll get your answer. That one looks sweet, Anthony; is it no longer with you? Or is it just getting lonely? And welcome to the board. Peter |

I'm trying to be that guy!!! That actually is a picture of the great Funkateer guitarist, Michael Hampton from Funkadelic, He rocked a '77? Alembic Series 1 Omega in the late 70s, Youtube Funkadelic's flashlight tour for some good footage of him rocking this thing like no body's business. I am looking for a 6 string electric guitar, not a bass, I can find those everywhere unlike the guitars :'( I have found 2 online on consignment at shops but they are WAAAAAY over priced and they aren't budging. Any series 1 or 2 I am definitely interested in and have cash!!! $100 dollar bills, dead presidents, lots, lots of them, if that helps anyone think about parting with there's If I can find one, it will be my first Alembic!!! |

In the immortal words of the great Homer Simpson, "Doh!" I should have looked closer. Well, most of it was accurate; It was the answer to Bill's question, it is a sweet guitar, & I meant the welcome. I'll ago away now & let my face stop being red. Peter (Message edited by cozmik_cowboy on February 26, 2011) |

Anthony: I agree that it seems over-priced. If you keep looking, you should be able to find a Series guitar in good to excellent condition in the $2500-$3500 range. They do turn up on eBay a couple of times a year or so. Always check that it comes with the power supply and 5-pin cable as replacing these ain't cheap. Also, be prepared to pay for an electronics upgrade if it is an older instrument. The proliferation of RF frequency sources over the years results in some older Alembics picking up a lot of noise, necessitating the upgrade. That said, I can also relate that neither my '76 Series I medium scale guitar, nor my '77 long scale 12 string guitar needed the upgrade - and I live in the relatively crowded San Francisco Bay Area. Good luck with the hunt. Take you time, be patient, and you'll find what you want. Bill, the guitar one |

Thanks for the heads up Bill, I tried seeing if the guy would come down to a realistic price a few days ago but its a guitar shop and you know how stubborn they are, he believe its worth a lot more and no matter what ad or thread from here, ebay or anywhere else, showing the market value of around $3,500 high range, he still feels its worth more and complains all my ads are at least a year old... duh! they dont come on the market often! I had $4,300 cash in my hand ready to buy instantly and the guy passed... thank god, I hate when I get impulsive... Luckily I feel pretty schooled on Alembics after spending the past week looking around these forums, great little place here. I hope to be a fellow Alembic player soon |

Patience is the key. You'll find one for around 3,500, though it may take a year |

Hi Maggot_brain;I have a '76 Alembic 6 string Custom 1 guitar. It's in excellent condition. I don't have the original case or power supply. I am thinking of selling it because I've been experiencing CTS(carpal tunnel syndrome)on and off for about 2 years now. Unfortunately the weight of this instrument aggravates this condition. I think it is time to find this beautiful instrument a new home with someone who will be able to play it on a regular basis. It DESERVES to be played, and right now it sits unplayed in my closet )0; I can email some pictures if your interested. I think $3500 is about the going rate. I'd be cool with that.If you haven't found one yet let me know. |

Glenn. my right hand was operated on for CTS in november 2010 and I was gigging again before the end of december 2010. If you're worried about it see a specialist as soon as possible. Graeme |
