Well... just picked up an Alembic P pickup off the street, kind of a score, although now I have no idea what to do with it. So... I guess I'm looking for a filter/volume set of electronics to go with it. Having said that, I know these are expensive kits, and you guys know what you have, but if someone runs across a set cheap somewhere please let me know, thanks. (A set sold about two months ago on that other site (no not that one, the other one) for seventy bucks!) I was asleep at the Q-switch! Argh.

While I'm here, I do own a multimeter, so can someone point me to some directions on how to test these? Is that possible without the electronics? I'll give a search too....

Heh, sorry Jack, I got that set of electronics . . . I'll let you know if I run across another kit.

Anyhow, from what I've read, looks like you can use different electronics/pre-amps with the alembic pups - as long as the gain is enough to deal with the low impedance. YMMV though.

Set your meter to "20k" ohm settings, and read the resistance off the pickup leads. While I don't know what this model P pickup is spec'd at, you should read around 8k ohms (the AXYs read 8k, so I'll assume yours should too. maybe someone can chime in with the correct number). But if it reads nothing, then the p/up is bad.
