Well it's the Rolls Royce of basses, and with new strings it sounds like Steinway grand piano bass & it's in pristine condition, no cracks/dings/or dents. 36 in scale w/mini power supply (fits in case) perfect working order of course. I'm feeling out the market, I thought I'd list it here 1st before putting it on e-bay/Craigslist etc.
I don't do any more studio work or gigging out of town. I think a serious working musician should have this bass.
I'm willing to discuss all reasonable offers. If you want more pictures e-mail me at Gman_Blonde1@msn.com or if you're in the Hollywood area, arrange to come @ see it. Gary

It's very difficult to set a price as there aren't any series II Balanced K basses for sale anywhere except from Alembic as a custom order. The quote from Alembic to build my bass today is $24,000. The series II basses I've found were kinda old, and they seem to sell for aprox. 50Cents on the dollar. I think thats a fair starting point for discussion for my instrument.

After input from quite a few Alembic club members, I'm asking $10,000 or best offer for the bass. I'm going to give it a few more days before listing on e-bay & craigslist. Right now best offer is $8,500. I really hope this instrument goes to a working musician!
Thanks for the input.

Good luck with the sale, Gary. $10K would be nice and not unfair, but $8500 is a pretty solid offer for that bass, as beautiful and well-appointed as it is. It's never easy to get money back for options that appeal to the original owner and may not be important to the next buyer. The market for a 36" five string probably isn't the largest, so there may not be crowds of motivated buyers out there to bid up the price.

I guess what I am saying is that you shouldn't be disappointed if you have to take the $8500.

I'm not sure what the logistics are of selling to Europe, I'll have to check into it. But if security/payment/shipping issues can be resolved I would do the deal. Let me know what you propose. Thanks.

Yes Toshiaki, the laminates are ebony. I was striving For maximum sustain. Thanks for asking.
