Hi to all.

I am Alain, a proud new Alembic Excel 5 owner.
On Feb 12th I purchased this beauty from Erixxst. (Alembic Club Member)

I figure that life brings me what I need, because I was shopping for a ''good 5 string bass'' when I found it in Kijiji.

After discussing with Eric, he delivered it to my place as I was getting ready for a business trip and had no time to travel. (he does not live close to my place that's for sure) Thanks Eric, hope you enjoyed dinner.
As soon as I got to see it, feel it, and play it, I totally fell in love with it. Thanks to you Eric for sharing your passion of Alembics. Thanks also to Daniel and Lowlife for taking such great care of it.
This beauty was custom made for Daniel (Dannobasso) in 2002. Danno, Lowlife and Erixxst were the previous owners. I am now the lucky guy.

A previous tread was created by Erixxst to determine the serial number of this instrument. I can close this issue as I found the s/n after removing the Fret FX unit behind the headstock, while doing my usual ''tune-up''. It is now registered on the Alembic website.
Last Saturday I spent a relaxed 8 hours in my garage taking apart, cleaning and tuning up my new acquisition.
I certainly had a chance to really appreciate the Craftsmanship that was put into the construction of this instrument.
There sure are many parts to the state of the art bridge, but a good shining job gave it back all of its luster.

I really enjoy babying my basses, so I definitely enjoyed getting acquainted to my new Excel.

It is now set up as I like it, and as they say, it plays like butter.

By the way, I am a 52 yo basement bass player, playing in a band who affectionally call ourselves: Barely hairy and the groundhog days. (Mostly due to the fact that we always need a warm-up take before we actually play a decent version of a song.) To say the least, we sure have fun.
Last night I took the Alembic to the practice for the first time, my band members were like: this is a ''real'' Alembic, well we're impressed....I am also....of the looks and the tone...

I see that members like pics, just as I do, well here are a couple that put this baby's history together.

I wish all members all the best!

Alain
