Hello New to the club I found the site when searching for Hyak guitars I stumbled onto the club. Not an Alembic owner yet but I own a morphed version of an Alembic a Hyak guitar that I have owned since about 1984, early next year I will purchase a new guitar and it will be an Alembic as soon as I figure out what I want until then here are a few pictures of my Hyak that I need to talk to Mica about refinishing my Hyak also as the finish is crazing and about converting the pickups over to Alembics as my friend and luthier Mike Lull suggests the guitar is a great player so Hello to all and any information on the history of Hyak would be appreciated.Hyak guitarHyak guitar 2Hyak guitar 3Hyak guitar 4

Hey Rick, Welcome to the club. I'm kind of a newby myself, but this site seems to be as unique as are the instruments we obsess over. I had never heard of Hyak until I saw the related thread. Your axe looks real classic - kind of like the old Travis Bean shaped body, but with nicer dimensions and a real neck. Very cool. Aside from my '83 Electrum, I also have a rare vintage neck thru - a Fernandez Masterhand that is in the shop getting Alembic electronics and an RMC bridge set for acoustic sound and synth access. You will love the Alembic electronics. There is nothing else like it, especially if you appreciate clean sound. It's nice to have another six stringer (I said "strings" not "cables") aboard.

I'll be bringing in to Alembic for some TLC, a satin neck finish, and a minor electronic mod when I get the Fernandes back. Keep us posted about your upgrade project.
