Yeah man,

She doesn't play fair does she? I'm thinking I might have to go with a Series I or II for that.

Just to bring everyone up to date:
As Jeff was leaving my house last night, I announced to my wife Rachel that Jeff has a new Alembic. She just smiled and said "oh isn't that nice" like she knew where I was going with this.

Well for the last month or so we've been looking at having a house built up in New Hampshire so she fired back with; "buy me that new house and you can have any new Alembic you want".... HMMMMMMMM

What a wife!!!!! Spend $300K to get a 13K bass. Wow!!!!

Brother Paul the Bad One, I need you!!!!

Brother PTFO

I lent you my red stocking if I can have that cute woolent hat you were wearing.
How is the Boston area bankwise???

Paul the bad one

BTW: If I were you I would go for that good-ol 5 string Europa style with Series electronics!

I think all this is just great. I especially like a happy looking guy holding a bass he obviously is very happy with. Welcome Jeff - nice looking bass you have there! And Dean, i think you got a pretty good deal there. Usually one only gets a new lawn tractor or another kind of chore device where you have to spend your playing time working on the $300K spent! Go going!

Sounds kinda like my Lexus for a Warwick deal I had with Debi.
When you get the house built and the custom bass ordered then you can negotiate around the furniture! You might end up with a whole slew of basses out of this bargain.

Sam

That is a great bass, Jeff. How about some details on your amp setup?

PoorNigel, you are so right...
That's exactly all I got(a tractor).

When you guys are banging on the table w/ your drinks... I'll be banging on the tractor...

For my setup...
I have an Ampeg svt4pro w/ 2(4x10) cab.
Although, typically only run thru one cab.

thinking about getting an f-1x after I get comfortable w/ the new ax here's some pics of the setup.

I go thru setupa bassist's true friendall I got was....

Zoom, zoom, zoom! Hey Mario (Andretti), you would be the man here is Wasteland, Maine with that suped-up JD! Pick a little, mow a little, pick, pick, pick . . . Well, no custom for you, obviously. Does Mica take John Deers on trade in? Maybe flowers and candy will work next time?

Easy there Dino!

Stop and breathe for a minute. Let's think about this. $300k for a house. $13k for an Alembic. She is getting the better end of this by far. So how about $300k for a house and TWO Alembics for about $13k and $10k?? Or a wicked custom one of a kind for about $20k??? Just some food for thought:-)

Well folks,
after days of deliberations, I might have to hold off on the bass for a little bit or go with something errr.... less elaborate.
It looks like this house might be costing a bit more than we thought and I might need every penny.
I might be able to squeeze a 5 string Orion though.

LOL..... In my household I've got to produce an engagement ring before I even think of putting in the next order (probably a year or two down the road).... :-)

Dean~ I was doing a session Monday night in CT. This guy stopped in to visit the engineer and it turns out he just moved from Lowell. We get to talking, and come to find out he was teaching guitar for Chaz & Bill (In the same cubicle they used to stuff me in no less!)... I guess they closed down their shops recently?!?!? Thats a shame, you have any insight?

Hey Mike,
You know, getting her an engagement ring is a great thing. But how about her getting you an engagement bass???? Nothing says I love you like brass surrounded by beautiful hard wood!!!!

Yeah The Music Mall closed up shop this week. They're all done.
They've been on a downward slide for the last year or so and now it'ss final. I hate to see any business suffer that fate but I do have to say they had it coming after hiring the management they hired to run the company. It was just poor management that did it. That and poor customer service. When you have to wait 3 mos for a special order and then all you get is the runaround after they've taken your money...you tend to take your biz elsewhere. And Guitar center and Daddy's are right across the street now.

BTW.... Congrats on finding an Alembic Jeff!!! Is that an Essence w/Europa electronics?!? What's that top wood??? I hope that brings many years of enjoyment~ I remember when Dean first showed me the Q switch and filter on his bass I was sold~ I said HOLY S%#T!!!!! The only other thing comparable to that for me was running my bass through a Focusrite parametric EQ.....

Sorry to veer off topic, but it's really a shame to see the MM done and over, ya know?!? They had been around for a while~ I know that times arent the best, but to lose the whole farm is something else.... You'd figure that they'd learn from E.U.W's mistakes. I remember saying to myself back around '99-00: "Damn, things are really on the up and up! These guys are riding the crest of a huge wave, and it's good to finally see the small guy get ahead".... I guess they got a little too far ahead of themselves :-(

Hi Mike,

Its actually a Rogue. To be honest and slightly embarrased... I have no idea what kind of electronics package it is. Although, the naming convention for the electronics is really odd... The top wood is Bocate. And yeah, the Q switch is pretty friggin cool. Way easier to adjust than any eq I've had.

It is a shame about the Music Mall.
Price wise, though online shopping is king.
and What Daddy's and Guitar center have going for them are huge inventories on hand for you to actually try stuff out in the store.
