Hi Everybody!!!
Vegas Vic here from Cleveland Ohio. I had my 1st Alembic Spoiler back in the early 80's when they 1st came out and retailed for 1500.00!!! I was working at a music store at the time and got to buy it for 750.00 played for a couple years and then sold it (Total Moron that I was) Just recently bought a spoiler again and my fender now is a hat rack...I play in a Bruce Spingsteen , Southside Johnny tribute band called Stone Pony. www.stoneponyband.com . I also recently bought and Ampeg B210 amp to play through and man is the sound amazing!!! Every sound man I use tells me that my sound is the best out of all the bass players they have ever done. Thanks to Mica and everyone at Alembic!!!!

Hi Vic and welcome to the club. What are the woods used in your Spoiler? If you don't know, post the serial number here and if you're lucky, someone from Alembic might see it and post the build history. We love pictures so post them, don't be shy.
I also discovered another use for my Fender; as an oar.

Welcome from Vegas, Vic. Glad to hear you're Alembicized again. We would all love to see some pictures of your Spoiler.

Cheers,

welcome to the club vic

Congratulations on the new Alembic and also the new amp glad you are happy with your sound. That is a shame about your old Alembic but think of it this way someone has probably had many happy years with that Spoiler and you may have sold them their Favourite instrument. Also you exposed someone else to Alembic the best basses on the planet in my opinion.

Talk to you soon
Andrew

Welcome. I am gladdened to hear that the addiction cannot be cured. Still, that must have been quite the withdrawal, all those years!

Hi vegasvic21,

Welcome to the club! How about starting off the new year with a new pic of your Alembic beauty, like lowlife said, we like pics of other Alembics. As for your ex-Alembic, sometimes we take a step back to leap foward, thus getting wiser as time goes on. Once an Alembician, always an Alembician. It's all good...

Darrell

Hey, that's another Spoiler with a pointy headstock! I wonder how many were built that way ...

Could it be a cone headstock ? from the motion blur in the photo it does look pointy...

B. - well, I have an Epic with the regular cone and a Spoiler with an irregular pointy. All other Spoilers I remember seeing had the regular cone.

Another detail that Vic's shares with mine is the logo and the lettering just above the nut - they really don't fit at the top of the headstock.

That's some very nice grain on the top, Vic - must be zebrawood?

Vic,
Welcome to the club. Beautiful instrument. Something about bookmatched top wood that gets me going every time.

Adriaan you nailed it it is zebrawood. also it is a cone headstock. Just like the one I bought in 1983 or 84....I was working at a music store at the time the spoiler just came out and it retailed for 1500.00!!!! I got it for 750.00 cause I worked there.
