Well..thats what I want from a bass as a sound to make too (apart from the straight "bom"). So you have now the perfect reason why I bought my first Alembic 8 years ago: a Mark King Deluxe in Coco-bolo. Unfortunately I doesn't own the girl anymore becaus of financial problems I'm not to suppose to tlak about here. Anyway, my second Alembic was a SII five string humbly customized: no side-leds an Omega cut-out, a wider neck as standard (I think it ads to her tremendous full and rich sound). I even let Mica choose the wood (it was "Claro" wood -never heard about it- if I remember well Mica?). I played it for some years in a big-band (but there I'm playing an old "Antigua" Fender Jazz-bass now). Well, I will not say I am unfaithfull to my Almebic. I'm an amateur and my second band -for 2 years now- is a blues band. I'm playing Glockenklang cabinets and an old SWR SM 400 amplifier. Sounds wonderfull!
To all Alembic owners (and will-be owners) this warning: take care! The bass is alive! It will take some time before the tree (wood) will realize that he is a bass now. So the neck could (read: will) change in changing weather conditions. The playing with the bass will differ tremenduously with the other basses you play. I always say: in the start the Alembic will play you, it will take some time before you play the Alembic.
I try to attach a picture of me playing and enjoying.

Hey Paul,

Very Nice Bass!!!

I will take your warning very seriously!!!

I just received my first Alembic (5-String Mark King Deluxe) this past Saturday. I ventured taking her out to a rehearsal Saturday afternoon, and then a church service Sunday morning...I was definitely played by this bass...but the sound was absolutely amazing...and the comments I got ranged from "that has to be the most beautiful bass I've ever seen" to simply "WOW"!!!

I love her...but will have to invest in a much better quality, padded strap...I'm currently using a $15 nylon mesh strap that had my shoulder screaming...but a small price to pay for such excellence.

I will post some pictures once I recover financially and can afford a digital camera

Talk to you soon.

Hey Mikey,

You don't need a digital camera. I took all my pictures with a $10 one-time-use camera. I had the pictures archived to CD when I had them developed. Ask your photo developer if they offer this service.

Hey Rami,

Thanks for the info...I will check around this week.

Mikey/

P.S. I've been checking out your extensive Alembic collection...VERY IMPRESSIVE. It will be a little while before I can order my next one, but I'm already plotting out in my head my next custom Alembic.

Hey Mikey,

I'm also really blown away by your Triple "O". Incredibly beautiful work of art. Can't wait to see your next one!

Best wishes,

Rami

Hi Paul

Well, well, finally another Belgian Alembic player on the board, and the very first Series II player I heard off who lives in the same Belgian province as I do ! Congratulations with you wonderful bass. Did you buy it straight from Alembic thru our Dutch importer, or second hand maybe ? If you ever consider selling that baby, I'm your man :-) I'd love to see some more pictures of it in the showcase !

By the way, you can see my babes in the showcase at http://alembic.com/club/messages/411/479.html?1022771206 and
