Hi David, welcome to the group! Perhaps the best place to shop is our own Swapshop section of this board. Ebay is good, with lots of basses, but you have to be careful. There are also some internet dealers with a good inventory of used Alembics. |

Hello David and welcome, if you get the chance (and that can be a little scarce) try out as many Alembics as you can find. Each will have it's own voice, but they are all from the "same family" of incredible sounds. Enjoy your journey. Mike |

Welcome. You can't go wrong with Basscentral.com or Superbass.com.I highly recommend both dealers.I have a friend in Florida who just picked up his first Alembic, an Epic 5, from Steve at Superbass and is now an Alembic freak.I'm trying to get him motivated in becoming a member of the club and posting pics but his Epic must be taking up too much of his time.Good luck in your search and whatever you choose,I'm sure you won't regret buying an Alembic.Nobody I know has. |

I really appreciate the input (and want more). Trying out Alembics in these parts of Tennessee is challenging. I guess I've only ever seen about four of these basses, played two and loved them both. The try-it-out-for-size is difficult, unless there's someone in the Tennessee region with one they want to part with. Thanks. This is a great club! I can't wait to be a "Playing" member. |

Hi David and welcome to the club. Good luck with your quest. If you lived in the 'real' Dover, you'd be just down the road from the UK's importer and could go visit. graeme |

David: I have very high regard for the folks at Bass Northwest in Seattle. They have some great-looking new and used Alembics on their website right now, and the folks who work their are very knowledgable. http://www.bassnw.com I also think very highly of Paul Schein (rhymes with Shine) at Chuck Levin's Washington Music in Wheaton, MD. They usually have a bunch of Alembics in stock, and their prices can't be beat (301)946-8808. |

I second the endorsement of Paul Schein and Washington Music Center. Let's see.... My kids have bought a Rick 4003, a Takamine classical guitar, an Epic, and a custom Taylor acoustic guitar from Paul. The Alembics they have in stock are not that flashy, but Paul also handles custom orders. But get him on the phone; he doesn't do email all that well. |

Hello and Welcome! I live in Seattle, home of Bass Northwest and am in there at least 2 times a week... They are great guys (and all great bass players by the way) who take great pride in their work. Steve Fossen, the original bass player for Heart sometimes works there just for the fun of it... He played Alembics on most of Heart's hits. If you ever call the store, ask for Steve... he's a very friendly and funny guy. Have fun! |
