Hi Tim,and welcome.

All that is necessary is to dig Alembics. I know Alain's rather excited at the moment as he's just seen the first pix of his new bass, so I won't berate him for failing to mention Alembic make great guitars too.

Welcome to the club, Tim. I suppose there are lots of people who read the posts here for a while before they take the plunge and buy an Alembic. If you know anyone who has one or if you can get to a store that has some it would definitely be worth the effort to try one out. Club members post Alembics for sale on the "Swap Shop" too. However, please ignore the "95 Epic 4 Flame Maple" post. The spousal unit said we should probably keep it. I wouldn't dream of arguing with her about that.
Again, welcome and enjoy the wealth of knowledge you'll find here.
Rich
(Edit - Duh, Rich. I just noticed that you live a lot closer to the Alembic factory than most of us in the club. That would be a trip worth taking.)

Thanks everyone! I feel at home already. I just bought what appears to be a 76 series 1 bass. the serial number on the top of the headstock reads 76 444. Does anyone have any info on this 4 string?

Hi Tim,

Jeez that was quick! The "Alembic basses and guitars" thread is the place to post a request for info on a second hand instrument. Alembic will most probably still have the build record of that bass. Let me be the first to congratulate you on your new (to you) bass and request pictures.

Hey Tim, welcome to the club. Number 444, huh? Wow, you've got yourself quite the axe for your first Alembic. Congratulations. Since you live so close to the factory (but not as close as I am, nyuk, nyuk), you should really take some time to visit Santa Rosa. Incredible instruments, incredibly friendly people, well worth the trip. You gotta post some pix in the showcase section.

Bill, the guitar one.

Tim

Welcome and congratulations on your Series bass. You will have to get us some pics to view as soon as possible.
Guitar Showcase in your area normally has 5 to 6 Alembics on hand to check out but like Bill stated Alembicland is less than two hours away for you. Have fun with your new purchase.
