Hey guys I have been floating around here for quite sometime. I actually purchased a Distillate about a year back only to be disappointed and then sell it to a member here. I couldn't get used to the short scale. I play in a Grateful Dead Tribute band and about 4 other bands as well, ranging from Little Feat to jazz standards. I have owned Sadowsky's, vintage Fenders, MTD, and few Modulus basses, the last being a Q6 that I sold to purchase a 2004 Alembic Mark King Deluxe 5-string bass. This IS the most Amazing instrument I have ever owned....NOW I understand what everyone is talking about here. The craftsmanship is just unparallelled. The signature electronics are off the hook. Last night I debuted it and have realized bass I have been dreaming of. I do love dream and realize they do become reality, so next up is Series II Jimmy Johnson, but Just for Today I am Loving this bass:

True that! Alembics are like tattoos, VERY addictive! I put a deposit down on a custom 5 string Series II Europa in October, waiting for the build to start is killing me!!

Welcome and great news you have found an alembic that you love.
