At long last I have my first Alembic. A quilted maple-topped "Persuader", #89P5559USA is a bit of a mystery, as it's original pickups went missing sometime. Looking around the internet at old postings, in late Summer 2006 it showed up for sale on eBay, reportedly with a set of active Bartolinis. It's apparently changed hands a couple times since, but finally wound up with me in Virginia, where I plan for it to stay after I'm finished restoring it to former glory. Other than the swapped-out electronics (which is a major down for me) it really is in fantastic condition. Very much looking forward to putting it back the way it belongs.

Once ready for the road again, it will be joining me playing in a wide variety of ensembles around the mid-Atlantic, mainly within a couple hundred miles of my home in Southwest Virginia.

Good to meet you all, especially the fine folks at the Alembic HQ.

None better than Alembic HQ, IMO.

Welcome aboard - it's a fascinating journey!

BTW: as you can tell from my forum name, I also like quilted maple...

In the interest of closure, here's the thread of my restored Persuader 5-string:

I'm so knocked-out with it, even after a relatively short time, that I've begun planning a custom build.
