Hi,
New guy here that is grateful for this months special as I will be placing my Alembic custom order for my 5 string black Europa Jason Newsted Bass. I previously owned a quilted maple top Europa that I unfortunatley had to sell. I am mainly a guitar player but I also play bass and I have a huge collection of old 80's Aria Pro II Super Basses because those are like entry level Alembics to me. I collect also ESP guitars as well as Jackson/Charvel guitars.

Enough about me time for pics I thought you guys might get a kick out of my Ken Lawrence explorer I just bought, Chechen top one solid piece of mahogony for the body and a two piece neck with fiber optic fret markers. Black mother of pearl inlays as well.

I guess you guys have to click on the links because I cant get the pics to post.

Hello mate, welcome. Is this guitar similar to hetfield's from metallica? He has an explorer which seems to have the 'squid' headstock?

It was built to Hetfields exact specs, except part of the inlay scene had to be deleted as Ken will not do a perfect recreation of the scene as requested by James.

Hello, Jason. Welcome to the Club and congrats on your new bass to come.

(I too am a fan of the Aria Pro II SuperBasses. I have an SB 900 that served me well as my main bass for years.)

I miss my old SB 900! Had it in the days in which I was portraying John Taylor, not John Entwistle. I traded up, both bass-wise and bassist-wise!

Welcome to the Club!

I couldn't bear to part with my Aria Pro II SB. If it could talk I'd be in a lotta trouble. However, My Mark King 5 and Epic 6 get much more attention these days.....

Over ten year period I have collected 7 Aria Pro II Black and Gold basses and a SB1000 w/active electronics as well as a SB Elite in white would never give them up.

My Aria Pro II SB 900 is what led me to Alembics. I knew that if this bass, considered to be an Alembic copy by some, was as good of a bass as it is, then the Alembics must be out of this world. I was right...Do you have an SB 900 in your arsenal?

I have an SB r80 which was the older version of the SB900 it had a wider neck two passive pick ups and Alembic style oval inlays the SB900 had the dot inlays same pickups, correct me if I am wrong.

Jason,

Welcome to the club. Congrats on the new Alembic on-order.

That Ken Lawrence Hetfield Explorer is a real nice piece. The last two links of pix of the Inlays and the LED's don't work, can you re-post?

Cheers,

Kevin

EXPc:

Good to have you here!

I love the old Aria SBs, and am similarly a nut for old Yamaha BBs. As a five guy, my narrow-neck '87 BB5000 and wide-neck '91 BB5000A are real favorites I can't do without.

Aria re-released the SB1000 as a John Taylor model and currently as an SB1000 re-release. Don't know if NEF/Aria USA is bring them here or not, they seem pretty clueless.
