I recently purchased a 1995 Alembic Elan 5 in wineburst from a member of the Alembic Club. Here's a link to the TB for sale page with all the details and some pics. http://www.talkbass.com/threads/1995-alembic-elan-5-string-reduced-2800-00.1144528/

All I can say is WOW! The tone of this bass (even when unplugged) is just astounding. The q-filter and 3-way boost switch just puts the bass over the top. I'm constantly amazed by the different variety of tones that can be had by using these controls along w/ the pickup blend knob. I initially had some issues with the sound of the B string, but it sounds much better after switching to EB Cobalts. I'm going to spring for Alembic strings in the near future and see how they sound.

Anyway, just wanted to make my official introduction to the club. I'm so excited to be an Alembic owner. I used to wonder what all the fuss was about. Now I understand!

Cheers,
Tom

Believe me, I had a lot of soul searching to stop me making an offer on that bass. That is a superb bass and I hope you get on great with it. Interesting you mention the Cobalts. I'm due for a string change on my main gigging bass and was considering trying something new and Cobalts and Elixir are currently in my sight for researching before I make the plunge.

Yay!Tom, I live in Pa too! Williamsport to be exact. Welcome aboard. May your days filled with the sweet highs and lows that only an Alembic can provide! There is another bassist that resides in Pa as well and his name is Bill. Hopefully he'll say hi provided he sees your introduction.

I'm happy to hear that Wineburst beauty landed on the east coast! Maybe I'll see it in real life sometime. Congratulations & Compliments, Welcome to the board. That's a mighty fine bass you have!

Welcome and what a splendid introductory instrument- !

If you like it as much as I suspect you will...well, let's just say that you'll understand my use of the word "introductory".

I live in a town a couple miles from Allentown….beautiful bass….I saw it online and seriously considered it.

I have an '89 4-string Persuader and just both an '86 5-string Spoiler.

Welcome aboard Tom. I'm Will and I am from Northeast Philly.
Charlie. Almost contacted you last weekend. Was in your neighborhood fishing for Muskies on West Branch of Susquehanna River.
