Hello my name is Danny Lovett. I started playing bass in 1977. And as many who were paying attention during the mid 70s I am a HARD CORE Stanley Clarke fan. I remember the first time I heard Romantic Warrior my life was changed. I heard "the tone" and from the first time I heard it I longed for an instrument like that. No, I longed for THAT instrument. When the Stanley Clarke model came out back in 1986 I about lost it. Damn I just got to have one of these was the first thing I said. Then I saw the price and cried. Ive owned a number of basses over the last 40 years, with the money I spent on some of them I could have bought a lesser priced Alembic but I'm very hard headed at times. I want a Stanley model and a Stanley model is what I will have. I went on a 5 year sabbatical from music that ended in 2012. Feeling refreshed and enthused Ive been closet shopping Alembics for a couple of years but am also very choosy at times. I love blonde basses and so I want a blonde Stanley Model. I finally found the exact bass I wanted ( Well no actually I must confess I really wanted a 1986, first year, ya know.) I'm savagely happy to say I just got, after nearly 40 years of feeding my lust, a 1987 Alembic Stanley Clark Deluxe. It is more than I expected, fantastic instrument! Worth every minute of the wait. Makes me want to pick it up and play every time I see it. Different people are inspired by different things, but let me tell ya playing this thing just tickles me into playing better! Probably sounds dumb, but hey. This my folks is my Alembic moment. Thanks for waiting for me!

Welcome to the Club Danny! I also have a Stanley Deluxe & can relate to everything you said. It will make you a better player because as you said, it will inspire you to play more & because the sound is so crystal clear you can hear every mistake! Alembics are precision instruments that force us to be precision players. Enjoy the ride! |

Yeah welcome Danny, a SC Deluxe was also my introduction into the sound of alembic basses and that was 13 years ago. I hope you become a regular contributor with your growing experience with the alembic sound and controls. |

Welcome! +1 to the above posts. SCSD 10SC14089 (photos under "Signature Basses") was my introduction and what an eye (and ear)-opening experience it was. Prior to that, I was playing the usual assortment of Fenders, Rics and Music Men - all adequate for the purpose, but not quite the sound I was hearing in my head. Since then, my Alembic collection has grown (even includes a guitar) and my head, eyes, ears and hands are all happy. My bank account, on the other hand...is...recovering...nicely... |

Thanks guys, as I said, Its more than good to be here. The thing Ive discovered and am enjoying the most is the fact you don't have to play nearly as hard to get a strong articulate sound. which I must say is very pleasant. Its a very touchy instrument which I actually like. Does keep ya on your toes at times, especially if you've been playing longer scaled basses. Its a bit easy to pull sharp. Believe me, the tone makes it all worth it. |
