Well, folks, I did it again. I was up in Raleigh at Conn-signment, a small music store in the City Market area. I was actually looking for a Sadowsky to try, but it had been sold. Then I spy this Essence on the wall .... picked it up, plugged it into a GK amp and Epifani cabinet ... and I was hooked! Man, this thing is amazing! Plays like a dream, sounds incredible (think a Jazz bass on steroids, but cleaner), and of course, there's the legendary Alembic quality. The shop owner actually ordered this bass from Alembic a number of years ago, and was selling it himself. It's not that he didn't like it, he just had other Alembics and other makes he used, and was thinning the herd. Am I glad he was.

Anyway, it's Alembic #4 for me. Enjoy!

Ok! I've been told that my Essence should be coming home from the shop soon. Maybe an NC chapter meeting could be arranged.

Dave,

Works for me. Keith lives up in Holly Springs and has been to my place already. I'll do the BBQ!

Hello Alan,

Congratulation on the expansion of your Alembic family.

You are correct, it is a Maple body. Sorry :-)

Hey now,

If y'all are doing BBQ, I'm buying a plane ticket.

Brad,

If I make it, they will show!

You're more than welcome here ... just bring your Series II. It is the price of admission, of course ... just kidding!

Best regards,

Alan

Alan,

My wife has family in Charleston, so I may just have to do that.

Of course, I have to wait for my Series II to be finished... and no pics lately, so I'm wondering if it actually exists (you know the rule-- no pics, it doesn't exist!).

I'm going to have to fly to Santa Rosa for an ultrasound or something. I can't stand it.

:-)

Brad
