Hey Folks, Great to see there are so many Alembic enthusiasts. I’ve been playing bass for 27 years now, and I have been fortunate enough to have owned/played Alembic for the last 11 years. I was able to purchase my first Alembic (used Spoiler) in 91’ after graduating from college and getting a real job. I owned a Stanley Clark signature for a while also, but sold both my 4-string basses in the early nineties. Now getting to the good part, my first major love (with the exception of my wife of course) was when I played my 92’ Europa fretted 6-string (see picture). This was, and is, the most satisfying fretted bass playing experience in my life. After this major find, I soon (94’) ordered my first, and only, semi-custom Alembic (see picture). I ordered a fretless 6-string Europa. I elected to go with a see through Smokey black with a flame maple top underneath. I had to have the awesome custom tailpiece as well. I had maple inlays put in for the fret markers (I’m not that good), and of course, I had to go with LED markers for 3rd, 5th, 7th, etc., etc. (very cool when the stage goes black). So here are my pics, have a look and tell me what you think. I haven’t purchased, or wanted to purchase another bass since, no need, I’m set. How do you guys keep your pics under 150K? I set my cam to low resolution, croped around the bass, and still had at least 250K. How are you all getting such good pictures under 150K? Thanks, Earl | ||

Earl, I suggest you download and install this tiny little graphic program : Irfanview You will find it at http://www.irfanview.com You can then save your jpg files at a lower resolution. And of course, there are lots of other programs that can do the same, but this one is nice because it can handle a lot of pictures in batch mode. Have fun Jan | ||

Hi Earl, (nice bass) Most digicams come with some sort of phot editing package. Look up "resize" in your help menu. Once you'e read up on it, go back to your photo. You'll probably have to go to your "edit" menu first, then click on "resize". Programs usually present two fields to fill in. One for horizontal, one for vertical. I usually type in "600" in the first field (for a horizontal pic) and it will automatically insert the correct aspect size (450?) in the second field. You'll have to save that particular pic at that resolution, so I usually save these pics with ".e" as an extension so I know I can use it for e-mail without jamming up my system. Hope this helps.
