I think I have a Exploiter/Spoiler ser #
B4S343 or it could be a leading 8. I bought it used in about 1986 at Ace Music in Santa Monica. I have no real idea of its history and would like to know more about it (the model) in general.

Hey Geoff, welcome to the club. Alembic serial numbers start with the year of manufacture, so you appear to have an instrument built in 1984. The "S" indicates that you have a Spoiler. I suspect there is one more digit in your serial number. It may have worn down as serial numbers from this era were impresssed into the neck at the 24th fret. "343" would be MUCH earlier than 1984. I have a 1983 Electrum guitar that is serial number 2780. Alembics are numbered in sequence from the first one built on. So your's is probably 3,43(missing #). If you figure out the number, you can post it in the "Owning an Alembic > Serial Number Request" section and Mica will look it up and post info when she can.

Good morning Geoff, good to meet you. Our guitar to bass ratio was getting pretty narrow here lately. It would be great if you could post some photos of the bass. We do enjoy admiring these pieces. Just to add to something Bill said, the numbers are sequential but not by model. #2780 is the 2780th Alembic built not the 2780th Electrum. I'm sure you picked up on that, Bill's pretty articulate, but just in case. Can one be articulate when typing or is there better word for that? Oh well.

Thank you for all the kind greetings.

I found the missing number, pretty faint it would be 84S3438

Let's see if I can get this image to post my bass
