Hay guys I'm mark, new to this site & had a guitar quetion. some years back when i was playing much aggressivly consistant. I had an ibanez roadstar(mid to late 80s)ssh for the sound, and became frustrated with it after a year or sooo.. When a player friend from another band hooked me up with a then new set of Alembic pickups for ssh set-up . I installed them and immediatlly loved my sound again..Some years have passed and several guitars later I've been going over some old studio & live recordings I've done,to rerecord them for a demo.I was asked to submitt by a fairly famous artist. When I realised that about half of the tune's solos that I liked the most were thoughs I had played with the Alembic pickups... so I've pulled out of moth-balls and have been playing it again as recently as yesterday at a concert we did where the sound reinforcment people made comments on all 3 axes I used . Making reff. to our sound's were really good, they had just did sound for Arosmith a few days earlier and made some sonic comparison about that guitar with your pups. When they checked out the guitar closer after the show they noticed they were Alembic pickups .. odd for that guitar.. Just then It dawned on me that I dont have the box they came in & can't seem to find out anything about these singers ssh flat black with ALEMBIC carved in the top in blocktype font kinda deep set, no paint or hight light of any kind. you would miss the deep print name if you did'nt look closely. How can I find out more about these pups I have ? not much seems to be on the net... I also noticed while scrolling footage at YOU-TUBE that earlier footage of mike'the kidd'hampton of Funkadelic playing the "Maggot Brain" seemed to be using an Alembic GARCIA, hard to tell in the stage lighting used.. did he use this guitar? thanks for any info. I just may have to hear what a Calif. Special sounds like. thank you! | ||
