Hello everyone! Just wanted to know if I get to learn a secret handshake or something now that I have finally purchased a beautiful Mark King Deluxe from another member here and joined this elite club? I must say "Clayzar" made me a terrific offer that I just couldn't refuse on his M.K. and made it a very pleasant experience owning probably the finest instrument I have ever played. If anyone here ever has a chance to do any kind of buying or trading with him, by all means do it! I've always wanted one of these and was wanting to purchase one recently to use as a dedication(on the brass cover) for my recently passed away father. The one I got from Clay is an extremely nice example with 32" scale, LED's, and a slightly different electronics scheme from most M.K.'s. I'm not sure which model exactly it sports, but truly sounds amazing. Yes, Alembics are expensive, but you truly "get what you pay for!" This is my first medium scale and I really thought it would take a little while to get used to, however it feels very natural and seems to beg to be played above and beyond! Love it! Just wanted to say Hi to all. |

Welcome Bill, there are no secret handshakes in the Alembic club, so far. Maybe Paul ( the bad one) can come up with one. Your bass is, of course, very familiar; it's good to see that it has found another loving home. The electronics on your bass look like Rogue/Europa electronics; volume, pan, tone filter with 'q' switch, plus bass & treble 3 position switches and of course the on/off switch for the leds. Holy Moder, didn't you know? Real Alermbic players shake hand with their 3th arm!!! As you obviously didn't -because being a moder I tell you the secret- Alembic players are coded Aliens. You are not aware of that but proof comes (with you around your 28th birtday - with me around my 35th)when you feel that Alembic-GAS attack. So when you buy that Alembic the code is activated and you will see after some years that a extra arm grows out just under your right arm (normally under your left arm for leftees - it's always a misery when a leftee sees the extra arm growing on his right side). The use of the 3th arm is unvisible for "normal" people. It goes fastener than light. So even for us it's difficult to use it exept while playing. He IS there! Proof: the reaction of other bass-players in the audience when you play tend to react after some years like : "how did he do that??" Alembic players don't shake hands. It's why Alembic players tend to "hug" when they meet. So we can sneakely feel that the 3th arm is there! Paul (the bad one) PS: I can go for hours on this. Haven't I teold you all that I also was involved in writing children stories for Radio broadcast? |

Let's all be carefull to not confuse "3rd arm" with "short arm" (I'm not hugging anybody until I get a note from my musical director!) |

I think my "code" has been activated, I suddenly have a strange urge for a cocobolo milkshake with LEDs sprinkled on top! Mmm, mmm, just like mom used to make! LOL. |
